Job Purpose
The Safety Officer will beresponsible for ensuring the safety and well-being of all employees,contractors, and visitors working on site in EPC (Engineering, Procurement, andConstruction) projects. This position plays a key role in implementing andmonitoring safety programs, conducting safety audits, ensuring compliance withhealth and safety regulations, and promoting a strong safety culture throughoutthe workplace.
Key Responsibilities
- Safety Compliance and Regulations: Ensure the site compliance with safety regulations, laws, and industry standards.
- Risk Assessment and Mitigation: Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, and risk assessments to identify hazards and unsafe working conditions. Implement corrective actions and provide recommendations to mitigate risks.
- Safety Procedures Implementation: Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety procedures, practices, and policies. Ensure adherence to these procedures by all employees and contractors.
- Emergency Response: Develop and conduct emergency response drills and procedures (fire, medical, evacuation). Act as the first point of contact in emergency situations and ensure the proper handling of incidents.
- Training and Awareness: Conduct safety inductions for new employees and ongoing safety training sessions. Promote safety awareness campaigns and assist in the development of training materials.
- Accident Investigation: Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to identify causes and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence. Maintain detailed records of investigations and findings.
- Reporting and Documentation: Prepare and submit regular safety reports to management. Keep accurate records of safety inspections, audits, training, incidents, and accident reports.
- Safety Equipment and PPE: Ensure that Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is provided, used properly, and maintained. Monitor the availability and condition of safety equipment on-site.
- Continuous Improvement: Continuously monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of safety programs. Provide recommendations for improvements to enhance workplace safety and reduce hazards.
- Communication and Collaboration: Maintain effective communication with project managers, supervisors, and employees to promote a collaborative approach to safety. Ensure that all safety issues are addressed promptly and effectively.
Qualifications And Requirements
- Educational Background: Bachelor’s degree in Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Diploma in Industrial Safety orPost diploma in Industrial Safety is must
- Experience: At least 4 – 8 years of experience in a Safety Officer role, preferably in EPCs sectors. Previous experience in construction, refinery or industrial projects is highly desirable.
- Knowledge: Strong knowledge of safety management systems, HSE regulations, risk assessments, emergency response protocols, and safety audit procedures.
- Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively train and influence employees at all levels. Strong attention to detail and problem-solving ability.
Preferred Skills
- Experience with HSE data management systems.
- Knowledge of specific safety practices related to Oil & Gas, Power Plants etc
- Leadership experience in safety teams or initiatives.
