Safety Officer

Job Summary:

The person will be responsible for supporting and implementing the company's Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies at various project sites across India. The role involves enforcing site safety protocols, supporting risk assessments, conducting trainings, managing contractor compliance, and facilitating the overall safety culture during the construction, installation and commissioning of solar power projects. The ideal cadidate should be field-ready, proactive in safety enforcementand well versed in EHS compliance specific to the solar industry.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Implement and enforce company EHS management system and policies on-site.

Monitor and support the Permit to Work (PTW) procedure and ensure adherence.

Verify contractor documentation, licenses, and certifications to ensure compliance.

Conduct safety inductions and refresher trainings for site personnel, including contractors.

Assist in preparing and reviewing HIRA sheets and JSA documents for site activities.

Participate in daily and weekly safety walk-throughs and inspections.

Monitor heavy lifting and material handling to ensure safe practices.

Support the functioning of the site safety committee and promote EHS engagement.

Enforce 5S practices and houskeeping standards across work areas.

Verify condition of site machinery, tools, and equipment regularly.

Assist in conducting mock drills, recording findings and following up on improvements.

Help implement the site-specific Construction Health and Safety plan.

Monitor and support wast management processes at the site.

Record and report unsafe conditions, near-misses, and incidents promptly.

Aid in implementing traffic and security control measures.

Ensure placement of appropriate safety signage and PPE insuance.

Participate in EHS audits and site compliance reviews.

Collect and manage site environmental suatainability data (waste, water, emissions, etc.).

Address and escalate social concerns raised on-site in coordination with project leadership.

Ensure statutory EHS requirements are communicated and complied with at the project level.

Assist in organizing weekly/monthly EHS meetings and preparing associated reports.

Submit daily, weekly, and monthly EHS reports to EHS and project teams.

Competencies:

EHS Compliance Awareness: Strong knowledge of occupational health, safety and environmental regulations and ability to apply them practically on site.

Risk Assessment & Hazard Control: Ability to assist in identifying hazards and implement preventive measures effectively.

Training and Communication: Capable of delivering safety inductions and communicating safety practices clearly.

Inseption and Auditing: Hands-on experience with site inspections, reporting and corrective action tracking.

Incident Response: Prompt response to site incidents with an undersyanding of root cause analysis.

Documentation Skills: Organized in maintaining checklists, reports, and statutory records.

Team Collaboration: Works collaboratively with site engineers, contractors, and safety teams.

Proactive Attitude: Take initiative to improve safety culture and implement best practices.

Adaptability: Ability to handle responsibilities across different project locationsand site conditions.

Attention To Details: Observes minor yet critical safety lapses and follows up on corrective actions.
