Job Description

Regional Sales Manager

To develop and manage business in west India by planning, directing, and implementing effective sales strategies and programs to achieve or exceed regional sales and profitability objectives.

Key Responsibilities Sales & Business Development

  • Plan, execute, and monitor sales strategies to achieve regional revenue and margin targets.
  • Drive business development and ensure achievement of annual sales objectives through the sales team.
  • Analyze sales trends, identify gaps, and implement corrective actions.
  • Develop sales plans ensuring optimum utilization of regional resources.
  • Prepare annual budgets, sales forecasts, and sales plans; control expenditures and initiate corrective measures as needed.
  • Ensure promotional activities are within budget and aligned with business goals.
  • Prepare sales growth blueprints for future expansion.

Team Management

  • Lead, mentor, and motivate Area Sales Managers (ASMs) and the regional sales team.
  • Set performance targets and review them periodically.
  • Handle recruitment, orientation, training, coaching, and performance management of the team.
  • Ensure sales team deployment aligns with business and budget requirements.

Channel & Distribution Management

  • Appoint and manage channel partners with strong infrastructure and financial stability.
  • Maintain strong relationships with distributors, customers, and other stakeholders.
  • Develop and sustain an efficient distribution network ensuring smooth supply and stock control.
  • Ensure commercial hygiene—monitor damages, complaints, and returns.

Coordination & Support Functions

  • Liaise with Marketing for effective brand visibility and promotions.
  • Coordinate with Supply Chain and Logistics to maintain appropriate stock levels and ensure timely dispatches.
  • Develop systems for accurate forecasting and customer-wise sales tracking.
  • Provide timely business feedback and ensure robust sales processes.

Market & Industry Intelligence

  • Continuously update knowledge of market trends, customer behavior, and competitor strategies.
  • Gain expertise in category and channel management, including modern trade, general trade, and food services.

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong knowledge of sales operations and administration.
  • Deep understanding of FMCG sales, distribution, and channel management.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Strong decision-making, presentation, and relationship-building abilities.
  • High business acumen and analytical mindset.

  • Self-motivated, aggressive, and goal-oriented.
  • Positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Committed, dynamic, and proactive.

Qualification & Experience

  • Education: Graduation (any specialization) + Post-Graduation (MBA/PGDM in Marketing or Sales Management – mandatory).
  • Experience: 10–17 years in FMCG sales management.
