ABOUT THE ROLE

Quality Engineer

1. In-house Quality

• Conduct in-process inspections, monitor defect trends, and implement corrective/preventive actions.
• Perform Root Cause Analysis (RCA) using methodologies such as 5 Why, Fishbone, and 8D.
• Support production teams in reducing rework, scrap, and improving First Pass Yield (FPY).

Supplier Quality

• Manage incoming material inspections and maintain inspection plans with sampling methods (AQL/ISIR/PPAP).
• Conduct supplier audits, raise and track Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs), and drive CAPA closure.
• Collaborate with suppliers on root cause analysis and ensure effective preventive actions.

Customer Quality

• Handle customer complaints with timely containment, investigation, and structured problem-solving.
• Prepare 8D reports, implement corrective actions, and track field quality improvements.
• Support customer audits and demonstrate compliance with agreed standards.

Quality Systems & Compliance

• Ensure adherence to ISO 9001, BIS, and other relevant standards.
• Prepare, review, and update SOPs, Work Instructions, and Control Plans during process changes or NPD.
• Participate in internal/external audits and maintain accurate documentation.

NPD & Continuous Improvement

• Actively contribute to APQP activities, PFMEA, and validation trials during new product development.
• Apply Lean Manufacturing tools such as Kaizen, 5S, and Poka-Yoke to improve process efficiency.
• Drive continuous improvement projects targeting cost reduction, productivity, and quality enhancement.

Practical Knowledge & Reporting

• Confidently use measuring instruments (Vernier, Micrometer, CMM, Profile Projector, etc.) for inspection.
• Track and report quality KPIs such as Rejection Rate, Supplier PPM, Customer Complaints, Audit Scores, and FPY.
• Provide structured quality reports and present findings to management.

Desired Skills & Competencies

• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
• Hands-on knowledge of quality tools (Pareto, 5 Why, Fishbone, Control Charts, FMEA).
• Good communication and collaboration skills with cross-functional teams and suppliers.
• Proficiency in MS Office, statistical tools, and familiarity with ERP systems.
