Job Summary:

The QHSE Assistant will support the implementation and maintenance of the company’s Quality, Health, Safety, and Environmental (QHSE) policies and procedures. This role involves assisting in documentation, audits, compliance monitoring, and training initiatives to ensure adherence to industry regulations and company standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the implementation and monitoring of QHSE policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Maintain and update QHSE documentation, reports, and records.
  • Support internal and external audits, including preparation of required documentation.
  • Monitor compliance with industry regulations (ISM, ISO, MARPOL, SOLAS, etc.).
  • Assist in conducting risk assessments and safety inspections in office and onboard vessels.
  • Help in organizing QHSE training sessions and awareness programs for employees.
  • Collect and analyze QHSE data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Support incident and accident investigations by compiling reports and follow-up actions.
  • Coordinate with different departments to ensure QHSE best practices are implemented.
  • Assist in liaising with regulatory bodies and ensuring compliance with statutory requirements.
  • Promote a strong safety culture within the company by actively engaging employees.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor's degree or diploma in Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, Marine Studies, or a related field.
  • 2+ years of experience in a QHSE role within the shipping or maritime industry preferred.
  • Familiarity with international maritime safety and environmental regulations.
  • Knowledge of ISM, ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 (ISO 45001) standards.
  • Strong organizational and administrative skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple tasks.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working in a shipping company or maritime environment.
  • Certified in QHSE-related training courses (NEBOSH, IOSH, Internal Auditor, etc.).
  • Familiarity with vessel operations and maritime risk assessment.

Work Environment:

  • Office-based role with occasional visits to ports, vessels, or offshore sites.
  • May require travel for audits, inspections, and training sessions.
