Job Description

Purchasing Manager Job Responsibilities:

  • Managing project and engineering items related procurement
  • Review requests for proposals (RFxs) and manage procurement cycle in tandem with the technical department
  • Review and negotiate contracts, terms and deadlines with vendors and suppliers
  • Evaluating bids and making recommendations based on technical and commercial factors.
  • Coordination with vendors and expediting items per engineering department’s needs
  • Define Procurement strategy
  • Developing new suppliers and evaluate existing vendors to meet company goals
  • Train new employees and support team members as necessary
  • Manage inventory
  • Preparing cost estimates and managing budgets.
  • Act as a point of contact between the company and suppliers
  • Collect and analyze data to ensure the company is making the best decisions
  • Managing daily purchasing activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks.
  • Maintaining the supplier database, purchase records, and related documentation.
  • Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Regular reporting to the project team and Management on procurement timeframes and spends.
  • Working to improve inventory and purchasing systems and processes.
  • Processing Payments and Invoice.


Purchasing Manager Requirements:

  • Minimum BTech in Mechanical, Chemical or Electrical Engineering
  • Additional certification/degree related to Purchasing, Material Management or Supply Chain Management desirable.
  • Minimum experience of 15 years in Engineering Procurement
  • Experience in Chemical Industry desirable
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and SAP-MM module.
  • Deep knowledge of inventory and supply chain management.
  • Supervisory and management experience.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Strong critical thinking and negotiation skills.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Able to travel to meet with suppliers and work overtime as required
