Job Description

The successful candidate, working together with the US based resources, will bring their expertise, capability and engineering knowledge to provide commercial and technical leadership to our existing teams, facilitate additional growth, and enable the business to meet clients’ needs.The

Project Director

will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of project management, implementation, and strategic planning within the Transportation and Infrastructure (T&I) domain. They will lead a team of professionals, collaborate with stakeholders, and ensure the successful execution of projects aimed at addressing critical environmental issues and promoting sustainable development.We are looking for an individual with proven experience and results in establishing, growing and leading an offshoring centre – and the functions within it - for a major organisation to help us deliver this strategy. As this role will include overseeing both the Technical and Shared Services teams and we are looking for a well-rounded individual with experience across a number of Business Leadership roles.The role includes: Developing and implementing project strategies, goals, and objectives in alignment with organizational priorities. Providing overall leadership and direction to project teams, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets, and quality standards. Fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment that encourages innovation and excellence. Taking overall delivery responsible for the US gCRC - India T&I projects.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES

Work with the US and India leadership teams to ensure People & Culture strategies support the overall strategic plan with a focus on diversity in talent acquisition, high employee engagement and effective talent management development and succession plans. Ensure visible leadership in support of the WSP guiding principles and best in class workplace culture.This role requires a strong leader with exceptional project management skills, technical expertise in environmental science or engineering, and a passion for sustainable development and collaborative problem-solving.
  • Develop and implement a gCRC Strategy (aligned to the US strategy) and work with each Business Line and appropriate international colleagues, to identify areas where we can expand our services and improve the output
  • Support with the development of gCRC services linked to both resources and technology enhancements that will add confidence and efficiency to our services through seamless quality and on time delivery
  • Establish and monitor service performance levels, pre-empting customer service issues and intervene as necessary to implement corrective actions
  • Establish a strong relationship with the internal clients – the regional support functions and operational business – to understand future needs and address any perceived or actual issues
  • Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team on different locations to variety of projects
  • Promote WSP Vision and Values
  • Identify opportunities to upskill existing technical resources or recruit new capabilities to deliver additional services or enhance existing ones
  • Identify further skills that could be brought into the gCRC to deliver additional services or enhancements to various businesses
  • Ensuring that the Business Management System is implemented and maintained
  • Carry out audits of adherence to WSP Management and Quality processes and implement corrective measures where required

  • Contribute to knowledge sharing in internal and external forums and including technical input to your team
  • Remain up to date with market and competitor knowledge across our industry

  • Operations Management - demonstratable experience in successfully leading large scale teams in a professional services environment. You should be able to lead teams and help with the operational management of a team of 150 +staff
  • Travel - Capacity and flexibility to visit the US on need basis

Qualifications

  • Seasoned professional with at least 20 years’ experience in design, project management, project delivery, advisory or in leadership in a consulting engineering environment. More than 5 years of experience in working with the US market. Strong experience in the T&I industry
  • Educated to Bachelor / Masters degree level in Civil Engineering
  • Carry wider business acumen and interest in business leadership
  • Working knowledge of US design standards and code in the T&I industry
  • Professional / Chartered Engineer status from a US State / recognized professional institution
