Principal Design Engineer -Structures (Bridges)

Job Responsibility-

• Provide leadership and strategic direction for all structural design activities across projects.
• Define goals, design strategies, and resource requirements for the Structural Design Department.
• Review project pipeline, prioritize assignments, and allocate resources accordingly.
• Represent the organization in technical meetings, presentations, and client reviews.
• Oversee the design of structures such as bridges, flyovers, culverts, retaining walls,super structures, sub structures , and other civil structures.
• Approve design methodologies, software tools, and modeling approaches (STAAD, MIDAS, etc.).
• Review and sign off on design calculations, drawings, and design reports before submission.
• And Ensure adherence to relevant codes and standards (IRC, IS, AASHTO, MoRTH, etc.).
• Conduct technical audits and ensure accuracy, safety, and constructability of designs.
• Troubleshoot complex structural design issues and provide expert-level guidance.
• Plan and monitor the progress of all structural design deliverables and Coordinate with highway, geotechnical, hydrology, and project planning teams for integrated design solutions.
• Track project schedules, ensure timely submission, and resolve bottlenecks & Manage multiple
• projects simultaneously, balancing quality, time, and cost objectives.
• Enforce quality control measures, document management systems, and internal review protocols.
• Ensure compliance with client specifications, design manuals, and safety guidelines & Maintain proper
• documentation and version control for all drawings and calculations.
• Lead, mentor, and develop structural design engineers and support staff & Evaluate team performance,
• identify training needs, and ensure skill enhancement.
• Optimize resource utilization across projects to maintain efficiency and Encourage knowledge sharing,innovation, and a collaborative work culture.
• Act as the primary technical contact for clients on structural design matters and actively Participate in
• client and authority review meetings for design approvals.
• Address technical queries, clarifications, and modifications during the design and construction stages
• also Build long-term professional relationships with clients, consultants, and approving agencies.
• Ensure cost control within the structural design department & Support management in business
• development by providing technical proposals and presentations.

• Timely delivery of all structural design deliverables & Zero major design non-conformities or rework
• Compliance with standards and client satisfaction & Department productivity and profitability.
• Staff retention, morale, and skill improvement and ensure team spirit even in tight deadlines.
  

Must have

• In depth knowledge of structural engineering design principles and software (STAAD, MIDAS,
• AutoCAD, etc.) Strong leadership, decision-making, and mentoring skills, Excellent coordination and
• communication abilities, Sound understanding of project management and design workflows. Ability to handle
• multiple projects under pressure and tight deadlines.
• Minimum Qualification: MTech in structures from reputed institution.
