Job Description: Plant Head – Packaging Operations (PFF & FFS Machines)

Position Title: Plant Head – Packaging

Department: Operations / Manufacturing

Location: Goa

Reports To: Director – Operations / General Manager

Position Overview

The Plant Head will oversee end-to-end plant operations with a specific focus on Packaging Machinery, including PFF (Pre-Formed Fill) and FFS (Form-Fill-Seal) machines. This role is responsible for achieving production targets, ensuring machine efficiency, maintaining quality standards, optimizing cost, and leading a multidisciplinary workforce. The candidate must have strong technical understanding of automated packaging lines and experience managing large-scale manufacturing units.

Key Responsibilities

1. Operations & Production Management

Oversee daily production activities for packaging machines, including PFF and FFS systems.

Ensure achievement of production targets, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness), and productivity metrics.

Implement lean manufacturing, 5S, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Coordinate with production planning for timely material availability and scheduling.

2. Technical & Machine Management

Monitor performance of Packaging Machines, PFF, FFS, and associated automation systems.

Ensure preventive and predictive maintenance plans are executed on time.

Troubleshoot technical issues to minimize downtime and improve machine reliability.

Evaluate and recommend technology upgrades for improving speed and efficiency.

3. Quality & Compliance

Ensure all packaging outputs meet quality standards and regulatory requirements (FSSAI, GMP, ISO, industry-specific standards).

Lead root-cause analysis for quality deviations and implement corrective actions. Maintain hygiene, safety, and compliance protocols across the plant.

4. Workforce Management

Lead, mentor, and develop a team of supervisors, machine operators, technicians, and support staff.

Ensure proper training on SOPs, machine operation, and safety procedures. Manage workforce planning, shift scheduling, and performance evaluation.

5. Cost & Resource Optimization

Monitor production costs, machine efficiency, and energy consumption. Optimize utilization of materials, manpower, and machine time. Implement cost-saving initiatives without compromising quality.

6. Reporting & Coordination

Prepare daily/weekly/monthly reports on production performance, downtime, scrap rates, and KPIs.

Coordinate with departments such as Maintenance, Quality, Supply Chain, and HR.

Represent plant during audits, inspections, and management review meetings.

Skills & Competencies

Strong technical knowledge of Packaging Machinery, PFF, and FFS systems.

Expertise in automation, servo systems, PLC-based machines, and high-speed packaging lines. Leadership and people management capabilities.

Analytical and problem-solving skills.

Knowledge of lean manufacturing, TPM, Kaizen, and continuous improvement.

Strong communication, planning, and decision-making skills.

Educational & Experience Requirements

Bachelor’s/Master’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Production Engineering, or related field.

8–15+ years of experience in manufacturing/packaging operations, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership or plant management role.

Proven experience managing PFF and FFS packaging machinery is mandatory.

Work Environment

Fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Requires coordination across shifts and hands-on involvement in machinery troubleshooting.

Must adhere to safety and hygiene regulations.

Pay: ₹400,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year
