The National Sales Head is responsible for the leadership, performance, and strategic direction of Purplle's entire sales function. This includes owning the P&L for the sales division, spearheading our customer experience and omnichannel strategy execution. The ideal candidate will be a master of balancing strategic planning with hands-on execution, using data to unlock insights and drive relentless growth & seamless execution.
Key Responsibilities
Strategic Sales Leadership & Execution:
- Develop and implement a comprehensive national sales strategy that aligns with the company's long-term growth objectives.
- Take full ownership of the sales P&L, setting and achieving ambitious revenue targets, managing budgets, and ensuring sustainable profitability.
- Analyze market trends, consumer behavior, and competitor activity to identify and capitalize on new growth opportunities and mitigate risks.
- Lead the annual, quarterly, and monthly sales forecasting, planning, and budgeting process with a high degree of accuracy
Customer Experience & Omnichannel Strategy
- Champion and execute a seamless omnichannel strategy, ensuring a consistent and superior customer experience across physical stores.
- Utilize data analytics to map and understand the complete customer journey, implementing strategies to increase customer lifetime value (CLV) and satisfaction.
- Develop and standardize frameworks for local store marketing and community engagement events to drive footfalls and store traffic.
- Collaborate with the e-commerce and marketing teams to drive omnichannel business, improve conversion rates, and leverage digital technologies for deeper customer engagement.
Team Leadership & Development
- Lead, mentor, and inspire a national team of Zonal Heads, Regional Managers, and Cluster Managers.
- Foster a culture of high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement through effective coaching and performance management.
- Oversee the recruitment, hiring, and onboarding of top-tier sales talent.
Operational & Distribution Excellence
- Collaborate with the Business Development team by providing data-driven insights to inform market analysis and the network expansion strategy.
- Oversee the national New Store Opening (NSO) process, ensuring a standardized and successful rollout for all new locations.
- Collaborate closely with Supply Chain, Marketing, and Operations teams to ensure optimal inventory management, product availability, and successful new product launches.
- Streamline sales processes and leverage CRM and other business intelligence tools to enhance efficiency and reporting.
Required Experience
- 10-14 years of progressive experience in sales and business development within the Indian retail or FMCG sector.
- A minimum of 5 years in a senior leadership role (e.g., Zonal Head, Channel Head) with a proven track record of managing large, geographically diverse sales teams.
- Demonstrable experience in managing a significant P&L and consistently exceeding revenue and profitability targets.
- MBA in Sales & Marketing or a related field from a premier institution is highly preferred.
