Position Overview
The Manufacturing Engineering Manager plays a crucial role in driving the efficiency, innovation, and operational excellence of the manufacturing site. This leader oversees group leaders across the department, directs equipment development and process improvement initiatives, and designs strategic plans that ensure the long-term success and competitiveness of the manufacturing function. The manager is responsible for fostering a culture rooted in lean principles, safety, and continuous improvement while also managing financial resources to achieve organizational goals.
Core Responsibilities
- Lead and manage a large manufacturing team, coordinating various processes and departments within the plant.
- Ensure strict safety protocols to maintain a safe work environment and comply with industry standards.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase productivity and operational efficiency.
- Support financial planning and budgeting for the manufacturing site, aligning with company goals.
- Maintain high quality standards and regulatory compliance to meet customer expectations.
- Optimize use of resources like equipment and workforce to handle changing production demands.
- Promote Lean and Operational Excellence practices to solve operational challenges.
- Manage talent through succession planning, performance reviews, and career development.
- Lead digital transformation efforts like Industry 4.0 to improve factory efficiency and transparency.
- Oversee engineering teams focused on equipment, process improvements, and maintenance across locations.
- Develop long-term engineering strategies, resource planning, and training programs.
- Help design and implement operational strategies to improve overall performance.
- Make decisions on whether to produce in-house, outsource, or buy from external suppliers based on cost and quality.
- Plan sourcing strategies for tools and equipment needed for production.
- Use project management skills to ensure timely delivery of engineering projects.
- Provide advice on complex technical and financial challenges, working closely with finance teams.
- Lead projects to improve product manufacturability and apply lean manufacturing principles.
- Manage capital investments and monitor budgets for the engineering department.
- Ensure all processes follow company policies and meet efficiency and quality standards.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or master’s degree in mechanical engineering, Electronics Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Sciences, or equivalent.
- Certified Six Sigma Lean Expert or Six Sigma Black Belt (mandatory).
- Significant experience in Manufacturing, Operations, Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Systems Engineering, Production Engineering, Cost Engineering, or equivalent fields.
