The Role
The Accounting Manager will lead a team of ten to fifteen professionals based in India and report to the Associate Accounting Director, as well as Finance contacts across WBD’s global offices. This position will support the day-to-day accounting and maintain the integrity and accuracy of the P&L and balance sheet. The Manager will review the team’s journal entries for accruals and manual ad hoc entries, monthly and quarterly variance explanations, balance sheet reconciliations, and preparing internal and external reporting schedules. This role will ensure all deliverables are completed timely, accurately, and will sign off on necessary close and control requirements. The ideal candidate should have excellent analytical, problem-solving and communication skills and a high level of professionalism and accountability to communicate financial information to Finance and Operational partners at all levels throughout the company.
What You Will Be Doing
- Oversee the month end close process to ensure accuracy, integrity, and completeness. Review and approve the team’s work product to ensure compliance with GAAP, regulatory requirements, and company policies and controls. Ensure appropriate supporting documentation is maintained.
- Review and highlight relevant P&L and B/S variances between current month and YTD.
- Analyze existing processes, identify opportunities for improvement, and provide guidance to the team on how to implement those changes.
- Lead special projects and proactively develop accurate ad hoc analyses for management to make informed decisions. Including assisting in the system implementation of SAP S/4HANA and redesign processes that are currently performed in Peoplesoft. Review and maintain accounting process documentation.
- Assist with team administration: feedback, development, training, assessment.
What You Need To Have
- Bachelor’s & CA (Inter) or master’s degree in accounting or finance, CMA/CIMA (CA, CPA will be plus) and at least 7+ years of accounting experience in international environment
- Having as exposure of leading/ Mentoring team of 8-15 resources
- Strong practical and theoretical accounting knowledge
- Strong communication and presentation skills
- Ability to adapt to dynamic and uncertain environments (flexibility and prioritization).
- Proactivity and accountability.
- Proficient in Excel and other MS tools.
- Abilities to develop interpersonal relationships.
- Experience in working under matrix organization structure
- Experience in Blackline/Cadency Certification will be plus
- Experience in Media Industry, Big Four firms or global companies will be plus
- Experience in SAP/Peoplesoft or other ERP systems will be plus
- Experience in Hyperion, SmartView, EPM and other database tools will be plus
