Job Overview

Linux Server Administrator

Key Responsibilities

Provide
3rd level technical support
for Linux server environments in compliance with customer SLAs.
Manage
daily compute operations
including event management, incident resolution, service requests, change requests, and root cause analysis (RCA).
Perform
server lifecycle management
: installation, configuration, monitoring, patching, maintenance, troubleshooting, and decommissioning (both physical and virtual servers).
Administer
storage operations
based on NetApp NFS.
Maintain and manage
package repositories and OS images
.
Execute
patch management
using tools like BladeLogic Automation.
Configure and manage
monitoring/alert systems
, including rollout and integration with infrastructure tools.
Conduct
performance testing and analysis
to ensure optimized server performance.
Prepare
detailed technical documentation
, test plans, service guides, and knowledge transfer materials.
Support
2nd level technical teams
with complex troubleshooting and advanced configurations.
Participate in
on-call support rotations
, including weekends and holidays, as required by the project.

Required Skills & Expertise

4–8 years of experience in
Linux Server Management and Administration
.
Hands-on experience in
physical and virtual server installation, configuration, and troubleshooting
.
Strong knowledge of
Linux OS operations
, including LVM, DNS, LDAP, and IPTables.
Experience with
hypervisor operations
(XEN and VMware).
Strong troubleshooting expertise, especially in
critical server downtime scenarios
.
Knowledge of
physical server hardware management
.
Associate-level understanding of
at least one major public cloud platform
(AWS, Azure, or GCP).
Basic knowledge of
automation tools (e.g., Chef)
and
scripting languages (Bash, Perl)
.
Familiarity with version control and ticketing tools such as
GitHub and Jira
.
Exposure to
monitoring tools
such as Prometheus (on Docker setup) and/or ELK Stack (beneficial, but not mandatory).
Understanding of
central infrastructure services
such as Security Groups, RPM, Rsync, Mail, Active Directory, Nagios, Repository Management, and Chef automation.

Preferred Skills (Good to Have)

Experience with
infrastructure monitoring
and log management platforms.
Knowledge of
automation and orchestration frameworks
.
Strong documentation, testing, and quality management skills.
Ability to conduct effective
knowledge transfer sessions
.
