We are looking for a highly motivated Lead Project Engineer – Power Electronics to join our Global Power Electronics team. Reporting to the Director of global product engineering - Power Electronics, the Lead Project Engineer will be responsible for supporting the development of variable speed drive products/platforms and supporting the appropriate life cycle of these products for growth and profitability.You Will: (Responsibilities)

As a Lead Project Engineer – Power Electronics, You Will

  • Coordinate and assist in designing and developing new variable speed drive product platforms and sustain existing platforms working with in-house or contract engineering teams to meet project schedule & objectives
  • Assist in developing product specifications, architecture, schedules, cost references, design documents, FMEA, safety agency certification and product release working with internal or external design teams and variable speed drive suppliers.
  • Obtain, review and interpret agency standards to ensure product compliance and provide needed info to help customer obtain safety agency approval for the system.
  • Assist in developing & documenting Test Procedures and standards for engineering as needed
  • Coordinate and assist in performance, qualification and reliability testing of variable speed drives and support integration testing with compressors
  • Perform competitive analysis of products in the market and provide engineering support for new product development initiatives.
  • Provide technical expertise by using a knowledge of Variable Speed Drives, motor control firmware, software, system and serve as a technical liaison where necessary including presenting & providing creative application solutions and resolutions for new and existing applications to support the global sales force and influence customers.
  • Work with Drive and compressor engineers to diagnose drive related issues in field, customer sites, internal field trial sites and perform root cause analysis and engineering changes (ECNs)
  • Provide timely and accurate technical information, co-ordinate development of user manuals, technical bulletins, customer related prints and conduct internal/external training to educate customers and field techs on the usage/troubleshooting of the drive

Required Education, Experience & Skills: (Basic Requirements
  • Minimum Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field in electronic product design and development
  • 8-10 years of technical experience for an industrial company with an emphasis on new power electronics product development and life cycle management of existing products. Demonstrated in-depth technical knowledge of electronics hardware, motor control, embedded firmware, safety agencies, root cause analysis, Design for manufacturing and installation and Engineering changes.
  • Experienced in variable speed drive design concepts, component/supplier selection & electronics assembly manufacturing.
  • Skilled in organizing, prioritizing, and coordinating highly effective working relationships with all levels of personnel within and outside of the organization.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to coordinate multiple projects with a global internal or external team simultaneously.

Preferred Education, Experience & Skills

  • Master of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering or related field in power electronic product design and development with 10-12 years of engineering experience.
  • Experienced working with customers and safety agencies such as UL/VDE
  • Depth of Experience working with variable speed drive suppliers, negotiating prices, and developing long-term relationships and strategy
  • Variable speed drive product manufacturing, quality, and electronics component engineering experiences
  • Experienced in EMI/EMC mitigation techniques.
  • Experience working with MATLAB, schematic capture and simulation tools.
  • Strong technical project management competencies and problem-solving skills
