Job Description

An inventory controller job description includes maintaining accurate inventory records, managing stock levels, and ensuring efficient warehouse operations. This role involves tracking the receipt and dispatch of goods, performing cycle counts and audits, and analyzing data to prevent discrepancies and optimize stock. Key duties also include data entry, coordinating with purchasing, and generating reports on demand and stock levels.

Key responsibilities

Manage stock and movement: Oversee all incoming and outgoing stock, record transactions, and perform physical cycle counts to verify stock levels.

Ensure accuracy: Maintain accurate inventory records and conduct audits to ensure data integrity and compliance with financial reporting requirements.

Optimize inventory: Plan and forecast inventory needs based on sales projections, maintain appropriate buffer stock levels, and identify and resolve supply chain issues.

Perform data entry: Accurately input data from various sources, such as invoices, receipts, and physical records, into the inventory management system.
Coordinate with teams: Collaborate with other departments, including purchasing, to place timely orders, and with warehouse staff for efficient handling of goods.

Generate reports: Create and analyze reports on stock levels, demand, and inventory optimization to provide insights for management.
Uphold quality and safety: Conduct quality checks on incoming goods and ensure all warehouse operations adhere to safety and compliance standards.
