Job Description

THIS IS AN ENTRY-LEVEL JOB


Roles and Responsibilities


  • Act as first-line responder for

    IT incidents

    (desktops, laptops, printers/MFDs, basic network issues) at Tumkur Office.
  • Log, update, and close tickets

    in the helpdesk portal; record clear resolution notes and timestamps.
  • Scan/claim QR tags

    and update the

    asset registry

    (department/site/room, model/serial, placement photo).
  • Perform

    basic desktop support

    : OS/user setup, drivers, common software install, printer mapping, profile/data backup.
  • Handle

    printer/MFD

    issues or get it repaired through service executive: paper jams, toner changes, basic calibration, vendor coordination for repairs.
  • Do

    basic network checks

    : cable/port verification, IP/DHCP checks, Wi-Fi SSID troubleshooting, escalate to L2 when needed.
  • Conduct

    preventive maintenance

    rounds; follow SOP checklists and submit PM reports on time.
  • Guide users (in

    Kannada & English

    ) on ticketing, asset tags, and simple self-help steps.
  • Escalate

    P1 issues per the defined ladder and follow through to closure.
  • Keep documentation up to date: site logs, asset changes, handover notes, and daily status updates.
  • Support

    onboarding/offboarding

    (accounts checklist, device handover/return, wiping and re-tagging).
  • Ensure

    safety & data-handling hygiene

    (no unattended logged-in machines, basic privacy practices).
  • Coordinate with external vendors (ISP/printer OEM) and track

    SLA/MTTR

    metrics.


Qualification


Minimum Qualification

  • Any

    computer knowledge/course

    (e.g., basic hardware/software training, diploma, or equivalent hands-on experience).

Preferred Qualification

  • B.C.A

    or

    B.E

    (Computer Science/Information Science/Electronics) or equivalent.


Technical Requirements (Brownie Points)


  • Basic

    networking

    : IP/DHCP, gateway/DNS checks, VLAN/port tagging awareness, Wi-Fi troubleshooting.
  • Network tools

    : ping/traceroute, ipconfig/ifconfig, basic switch port checks.
  • Device setup

    : Windows user profiles, printer drivers, PDF tools, antivirus updates.
  • Experience with

    asset systems

    (Snipe-IT or similar) and

    ticketing portals

    .
  • Label/QR workflows

    : scanning/claiming assets, taking placement photos, reprints.
  • Familiarity with

    Google Workspace

    (Gmail, Drive) and documenting in Sheets/Docs.
  • Reading SOPs and following

    preventive maintenance

    checklists.


Language & Location (Mandatory)

  • Kannada proficiency is required.

  • On-site in Tumakuru

    (daily presence on-site assigned).
  • Mon-Sat: 10 am - 5 pm (2nd and 4th Saturday is off, Holidays as per State Government)
