Job Description

Key Responsibilities Import Logistics Management: Manage the complete import cycle, from Purchase Order (PO) placement to final delivery at project sites or warehouses. Coordinate with international suppliers, freight forwarders, shipping lines/airlines, and transporters to ensure timely and cost-effective movement of goods. Select appropriate shipping methods (sea, air, road) based on cost, time, and project requirements. Monitor and track shipments closely, providing regular updates to internal stakeholders and proactively resolving any delays or issues. Customs and Compliance: Ensure strict compliance with all Indian Customs regulations, international trade laws, and specific renewable energy import policies. Prepare, review, and finalize all necessary import documentation, including Commercial Invoices, Packing Lists, Bills of Lading (BL)/Air Waybills (AWB), Certificates of Origin (COO), and other project-specific documents. Liaise and coordinate effectively with Custom House Agents (CHAs) to facilitate smooth and timely customs clearance. Stay updated on changes in import tariffs, duties, GST, and trade agreements relevant to the renewable energy sector. Cost Management and Negotiation: Negotiate freight rates and service level agreements with freight forwarders and logistics providers to optimize transportation costs. Analyze import data and processes to identify cost-saving opportunities and implement process improvements. Ensure timely and accurate payment of customs duties, taxes, and other related fees. Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate and organized records of all import transactions, documentation, and compliance filings for regulatory and auditing purposes. Generate and present management reports (MIS) on import status, expenditure, and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) like delivery adherence and cost variance. Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Procurement, Project Management, Finance, and Warehouse teams to align import schedules with project timelines and inventory needs. Required Qualifications and SkillsEducation: Bachelor's degree in International Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field. Experience: 2-5 years of proven experience in import/export operations, logistics, or freight forwarding, preferably within the Renewable Energy (Solar or Wind) or a related capital goods industry. Technical Skills: In-depth knowledge of Customs Procedures, Incoterms, and international trade regulations. Familiarity with import management software, ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle), and MS Office (especially Excel). Knowledge of the specific documentation and compliance requirements for renewable energy equipment imports (e.g., specific BIS standards, relevant duty exemptions/schemes). Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills. Excellent communication and negotiation skills, both verbal and written. Strong problem-solving abilities to handle unexpected logistics or customs challenges. Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and perform effectively under tight deadlines.
