HSE Specialist, GS HSE Supply Production

Valmet is expanding its operations in Pune, and with this growth we are strengthening our Health, Safety and Environment (HSE) capabilities. As an HSE Specialist, you will play a key role in ensuring a safe and compliant working environment at our factory, supporting our people, equipment and the environment. You will work closely with Production, Maintenance and other functions to develop and implement safe work practices, drive risk reduction, and promote a strong safety and well-being culture that enables our teams to deliver high-quality products to customers reliably and responsibly.
We are looking for a committed HSE Specialist to support and ensure safe, compliant and sustainable operations at our manufacturing facility located in Markal, Pune. Your main responsibility is to 1) Conduct regular HSE inspections and ensure timely closure of findings and actions. 2) Lead or support incident investigations, identify root causes, implement actions and share learnings. 3) Coach and advise employees, supervisors and managers on safe work practices. 4) Check compliance with the Factories Act, Maharashtra Factories Rules, environmental laws and company HSE requirements. 5) Support statutory inspections, license renewals and other regulatory submissions. 6) Maintain the site HSE management system in line with ISO 45001, ISO 14001 and internal standards. 7) Conduct and periodically review HIRA, JSA and other task specific risk assessments for routine and non-routine activities and ensure agreed controls are in place. 8) Support Management of Change for new or modified processes, machines, materials and layouts. 9) Plan and deliver HSE training and support HSE campaigns, safety weeks, toolbox talks and other HSE communication. 10) Apply HSE requirements for contractors and ensure safe systems of work for high-risk activities (work at height, lifting, hot work, confined space, electrical work, LOTO, etc.). 11) Maintain and test emergency response plans and run mock drills to improve readiness. 12) Support waste management, emissions control, energy and water saving and other environmental compliance activities, including KPI tracking. 13) Track new internal and external HSE requirements and help implement needed changes at the site. 14) Keep HSE records, permits, reports and documents up to date. 15) Prepare monthly HSE performance reports (incidents, KPIs, training, inspections) for management review. You report directly to HSE Manager, India.
Who is the professional we are looking for?
To be successful in this role you will have.
1) Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Mechanical / Electrical / Production / Industrial or similar). 2) 5 to 7 years of HSE experience in manufacturing / heavy engineering / industrial environment. 3) Degree / Diploma in Industrial Safety from a State or Central Government approved institute (e.g. RLI, CLI, State Board of Technical Education) – mandatory. 4) NEBOSH IGC, NGC or equivalent HSE qualification – preferred. 5) Hands-on legal compliance experience with Factories Act, State Rules and Environmental Laws. 6) Strong HSE knowledge with practical experience in HIRA/JSA, PTW, contractor safety and emergency preparedness. 7) Experience in implementing and maintaining ISO 14001 and ISO 45001 systems and supporting certification audits. 8) ISO 45001 / ISO 14001 internal auditor qualification – preferred. 9) Good communication and presentation skills in English and local language. 10) Proficient in MS Office; experience with HSE reporting tools or dashboards is an advantage. In addition, you have motivation and ability to achieve results under pressure with strong sense of responsibility and independence.
