Job Overview

The Junior Officer – Payroll & Compliance will be responsible for end-to-end support in payroll processing, statutory compliance, employee data management, and coordination with internal and external stakeholders. The role requires strong analytical skills, accuracy, and sound knowledge of MS Excel.

Key Responsibilities

Payroll Processing

  • Assist in end-to-end monthly payroll processing for all employees.
  • Collect, verify, and update attendance, leave records, and salary inputs.
  • Validate reimbursement claims, overtime, incentives, and shift allowances.
  • Coordinate with HR and departments to resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Generate and share monthly salary reports, payslips, and payroll statements.

Payroll Compliance & Statutory Requirements

  • Support in calculation and filing of statutory compliances (PF, ESIC, PT, LWF, TDS).
  • Maintain statutory registers and ensure timely challan payments.
  • Assist in preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual compliance reports.
  • Coordinate with auditors for payroll-related audits and documentation.

Employee Data & Documentation

  • Maintain accurate employee records in HRMS/payroll system.
  • Prepare letters such as salary revision letters, full & final settlement statements, etc.
  • Handle employee queries related to salary, deductions, tax, and benefits.

Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare payroll MIS reports on headcount, CTC, salary variance, overtime, etc.
  • Use Excel for data management, pivot analysis, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, and basic formulas.
  • Assist in automation and process improvement initiatives.

Skills & Competencies Required

  • Strong knowledge of payroll processes and statutory compliances.
  • Good command over MS Excel (VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, formulas).
  • Knowledge of HRMS/payroll software (any ERP).
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Good communication and coordination skills.
  • Ability to handle confidential information professionally.

Qualification

Bachelor’s degree in Commerce / HR / Business Administration or related field.

Preferred Attributes

  • Experience in payroll operations for small or mid-size workforce.
  • Basic knowledge of income tax rules for salaried employees.
  • Ability to work under timelines and manage multiple priorities.
