Role Overview:

Head of HR

You will be responsible for driving HR strategy that aligns with business goals, local labor regulations, and the broader global people vision of Lenskart Group.


Key Responsibilities:

1. HR Strategy & Leadership

  • Design and execute the Japan HR strategy aligned with local market needs and global priorities
  • Act as a key advisor to the leadership team on organizational design, talent planning, and people strategy
  • Drive change management and culture building in a high-growth environment


2. Talent Acquisition & Employer Brand

  • Lead recruitment efforts for both corporate and retail roles
  • Define hiring strategies, processes, and candidate experiences that align with brand values
  • Build a strong employer brand and campus hiring pipeline in Japan


3. Performance & Culture

  • Roll out performance management systems that promote meritocracy and accountability
  • Drive initiatives around employee engagement, values alignment, and workplace culture
  • Champion diversity, inclusion, and employee well-being programs


4. HR Operations & Compliance

  • Oversee payroll, policies, labor law compliance, and employment contracts
  • Ensure accurate and timely HR processes, audits, and statutory adherence
  • Liaise with legal and finance teams to mitigate people-related risks


5. Learning, Development & Capability Building

  • Identify skill gaps and build L&D roadmaps for store teams and corporate staff
  • Introduce leadership development and learning interventions in collaboration with Group L&D
  • Track training effectiveness and development metrics


6. HR Technology & Analytics

  • Utilize HR tools and systems for better process automation, tracking, and reporting
  • Create dashboards on headcount, attrition, hiring performance, and engagement trends
  • Provide data-driven recommendations to business stakeholders


7. Global Alignment & Stakeholder Management

  • Collaborate closely with the global HR leadership team on group-wide initiatives
  • Customize global frameworks to meet Japanese legal, cultural, and workforce expectations
  • Communicate clearly with international stakeholders and contribute to group-level HR planning


Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • 10 years of progressive HR experience, including HR leadership roles in Japan
  • Experience in retail, consumer, or fast-growth service businesses is highly preferred
  • Demonstrated expertise in scaling teams, designing HR policies, and supporting multi-site organizations
  • Strong understanding of Japanese labor laws, HR operations, and cultural nuances
  • Track record of being both strategic and hands-on
  • Ability to build trust across all levels of the organization—from retail floor to boardroom
  • Comfort working in matrixed, multicultural environments
