What You’ll Be Responsible For
Org-wide Operations
- Oversee day-to-day functioning across programs and support teams
- Manage weekly rituals, OKRs, team dashboards, and Notion systems
- Ensure cross-functional coordination and reduce dependency bottlenecks
- Run quarterly retros and planning sessions in collaboration with the directors
- Manage a fully remote, distributed team across functions and locations
People, Culture & Team Health
- Build a culture of ownership, trust, and feedback
- Be the escalation point for team conflicts and underperformance
- Oversee hiring plans across verticals; support JDs, contracts, onboarding
- Coach or supervise team members in ops, comms, and generalist roles
- Shape rituals that protect against burnout and mission drift
Program Oversight, Design & Strategy Input
- Work closely with program leads (e.g. Mafioso, Climate Ninja, SusVentures) to support execution
- Provide a sounding board on
program design decisions
, new intervention pilots, and cross-program integration
- Ensure programs are scoped realistically and resourced appropriately
Mentor new ventures and climate talent
within active cohorts and alumni networks
- Track program health across founders, talent, partners, and outcomes
Partnerships & External Collaboration
- Identify and formalize partnerships with universities, corporate sustainability teams, investors, and ecosystem builders
- Represent SusMafia at climate innovation events, communities, and platforms
Design and manage partner pilots, MoUs, and multi-stakeholder initiatives
- Coordinate follow-ups across strategic funders and implementation partners
Finance Oversight & Compliance
- Supervise external finance consultant (e.g., SMK) who handles Zoho, filings, disbursals
- Ensure reporting hygiene across grants, funders, and annual audits
- Own financial planning, burn runway visibility, and fund utilization tracking
- Review MoUs, budgets, and payouts in coordination with program leads
Internal Communication & Director Interface
- Ensure the team has clarity on roles, priorities, and decision flows
- Liaise between the core team and board/directors to unlock decisions
- Own internal communications — Slack, Notion, updates, sync rituals
- Help shape external messaging (with comms team) where needed
Who You Are
Must-Haves
- 8-12 years of experience across operations, leadership, or strategy roles in high-trust environments
- Experience managing diverse teams (programs, ops, finance, comms)
- Comfort working across nonprofit and startup contexts
- Familiarity with OKRs, async systems, and lean team structures
- Deep commitment to people development, equity, and climate action
Bonus If You Have
- Experience in climate tech, ecosystem building, or grant-funded orgs
- Led an organization from the ground up or through a leadership change
- Worked closely with founders, funders, or corporate sustainability teams
