This role offers the opportunity to lead and scale a high-performing engineering organization while driving strategic technology initiatives for a fast-growing business unit. You will act as the technological leader, shaping architecture, engineering processes, and team capabilities to deliver reliable, high-availability systems that support millions of transactions. The position requires balancing hands-on technical leadership with executive-level strategy, mentoring engineering managers, and embedding operational excellence across cloud-native platforms. You will collaborate closely with product, compliance, and business teams to align technical strategy with organizational goals. Accountabilities
- Define and drive the technical roadmap, architecture, and operational strategy for scalable, high-availability systems.
- Build, structure, and lead engineering teams, fostering a culture of high performance, mentorship, and accountability.
- Collaborate with Product, Business, and Compliance teams to ensure alignment of technical solutions with business objectives.
- Embed best practices for observability, security, reliability, and compliance into all engineering functions.
- Oversee complex technical problem solving and execution across the organization, ensuring high-quality, timely delivery.
- Act as a hands-on leader, mentoring managers and engineers while establishing succession planning and talent growth initiatives.
- Continuously improve engineering processes, tools, and workflows to maximize throughput and product quality.
Requirements
- 5+ years in Head, Director, VP, or CTO roles in high-growth, high-scale engineering organizations.
- Proven ability to operate as a Business Unit CTO, balancing innovation, technical debt, and rapid delivery.
- Deep expertise in systems architecture, distributed systems, microservices, and high-throughput, high-availability design.
- Demonstrated experience in engineering process design, team scaling, and talent development.
- Strong strategic thinking, problem-solving, and leadership skills with a track record of impactful leverage.
- Excellent communication, clarity of thought, empathy, and collaboration skills.
- Hands-on experience with Java, Spring Boot, Docker, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, Elasticsearch, and AWS microservices.
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced, remote-first environments and drive cross-functional impact.
