The role:
Head of Data
Role Responsibilities:
Data Strategy & Vision:
Develop and implement a compelling data vision and strategy that aligns with overall business objectives, with a particular focus on establishing foundational data capabilities and frameworks in a greenfield environment. Team Leadership:
Lead and mentor data science, engineering, and analytics teams, ensuring effective communication and collaboration. Data Governance:
Establish frameworks and policies for data collection, storage, security, and compliance to ensure data integrity and trustworthiness. Data Infrastructure:
Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of scalable data infrastructure, including modern cloud-based platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure, or Snowflake, ensuring seamless data flow, governance, and performance across the organization. Data Analysis & Insights:
Guide the development of analytics frameworks, dashboards, and advanced analyses to generate actionable insights and inform strategic decisions. Stakeholder Collaboration:
Partner with business leaders, IT, and other departments to understand their data needs and deliver solutions that address challenges and opportunities. Data Literacy & Culture:
Promote data literacy across the organization and foster a data-driven decision-making culture. Innovation:
Stay abreast of advancements in analytics and data technologies, and champion innovative solutions, including AI and machine learning.
Role Requirements
Experience:
8+ years of experience from a similar role. Experience with building or maturing a data function, or having been part of a team that scaled data capabilities from early stages, is highly valuable. Strategic & Analytical Thinking:
Ability to connect data initiatives to business goals and identify trends to derive strategic insights. Leadership & Management:
Experience leading and motivating technical teams to achieve objectives. Ideally within environments where data practices and systems were still being developed or scaled. Communication Skills:
Exceptional verbal and written communication abilities to effectively present findings and collaborate with diverse stakeholders. Technical Expertise:
Strong understanding of data architecture, data engineering, data science, and modern data platforms such as Microsoft Fabric, Azure Synapse, or Databricks. Problem-Solving:
Ability to identify business problems and devise data-driven solutions to improve efficiency and drive growth. Visionary Leadership:
Ability to set and communicate a clear direction for Leapwork’s data strategy, translating ambition into actionable initiatives. -
Execution Focus:
Comfortable operating in a greenfield setting, able to help design and implement data systems, governance, and processes where frameworks are still evolving. Cross-Functional Collaboration:
Proven ability to influence and align business and technical stakeholders around shared data goals.Innovation Mindset:
