AEDT - Associate Experience and Digital Transformation
The AEDT team (Associate Experience and Digital Transformation) enables Walmart’s 2.2 million+ associates across the globe with a suite of productivity and collaboration tools — including Jira, Zoom, and a growing portfolio of GenAI-powered solutions — designed for both desktop and mobile use. As part of the ADET (Associate Experience and Digital Transformation) portfolio, AEDT plays a central role in creating a connected, efficient, and modern digital workplace.
Our team leads the agentic strategy and execution of associate-centric applications across Walmart, ensuring that every digital touchpoint is intuitive, scalable, and aligned with the evolving needs of our global workforce. AEDT combines technology, design thinking, and automation to enhance associate experience and productivity at scale.From building HR virtual assistants and GenAI chatbots to automating invoices and supporting global legal and compliance needs, AEDT is at the forefront of Walmart’s transformation — delivering operational efficiency and innovation while putting associates at the center of every solution.
What you'll do:
The Group Director of Software Engineering will be a pivotal technology leader, overseeing a global team of engineers and driving the development of next-generation platforms for Walmart Global Technology. Key responsibilities for this role include:
- Provide senior level technical leadership for AEDT organization in BLR. Setting up best practices for OE, security, and project reviews.
- Consolidate data streams and data platforms/data lakes. Help us get to single sources of truth for all of our operational data across AEDT.
- Take ownership of several AI Application domains, such as AskSam and parts of MyAssistant
- Help support location leadership for the AEDT organization and set bast practices for IT helpdesk.
- Lead a team of senior engineering leaders and architects to design, build, and maintain the next-generation, associate productivity tools, on a global scale.
- Collaborate with product, business, and operations leaders to define, prioritize, and execute the product and technology roadmap, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives.
This role requires a visionary leader who can balance technical expertise with strategic business acumen, and who is passionate about shaping the future.
What you'll bring:
- 10+ years of experience managing large engineering organizations (~200+ engineers), with a proven track record of leading senior engineering leaders and architects.
- In-depth knowledge of large-scale distributed system technologies
- Exceptional collaboration and communication skills, with the ability to build strong relationships across cross-functional teams and senior stakeholders.
- Proven ability to influence across functional boundaries, driving consensus and aligning teams toward common goals.
- Demonstrated success in hiring, mentoring, and growing top-tier engineering talentcreating high-performance, high-impact teams.
- BS or MS degree in Computer Science (or related technical field) with 20+ years of industry experience in engineering and technology leadership.
- A strong bias toward innovation, with a passion for continuously evolving technology solutions and introducing new approaches to solve complex problems.
- Associate empathy and deep understanding of associate needs, with the ability to create technology solutions that enhance the user experience.
