GCP Devops Engineer

We are looking for an experienced GCP DevOps Engineer who can take complete ownership of cloud-native infrastructure, automation, and CI/CD processes. The ideal candidate is hands-on with GCP, GKE, Terraform, and scripting, and thrives in high-impact environments where reliability and scalability are non-negotiable. You’ll be a key contributor in designing deployment pipelines, building infrastructure as code, optimizing reliability, and leading troubleshooting efforts.

Key Responsibilities

• Design, build, and manage scalable, reliable, and secure cloud infrastructure on

  Google Cloud Platform (GCP)

  .
• Automate repetitive tasks using

  Python, Go, or Bash

  to eliminate manual toil.
• Manage and scale containerized workloads using

  Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE)

  .
• Implement advanced

  deployment strategies

  (Blue/Green, Canary) ensuring zero-downtime rollouts.
• Manage infrastructure as code with

  Terraform

  for versioned, repeatable, and auditable environments.
• Develop and maintain

  CI/CD pipelines

  to streamline release processes and ensure continuous delivery.
• Use

  Helm Charts

  to standardize and simplify application deployments across environments.
• Lead incident triage and troubleshooting during production issues with a root-cause-first mindset.
• Collaborate closely with Developers, SREs, and Cloud Architects to optimize performance and cost.

Required Skills & Qualifications

• Automation & Scripting: Proficiency in Python, Go, or Bash for automating manual workflows and operational tasks.
• Google Cloud Platform (GCP): In-depth understanding of GCP services, networking, IAM, monitoring, and deployment best practices.
• GKE (Google Kubernetes Engine): Practical expertise in managing Kubernetes clusters, Blue/Green, Canary, and custom scaling using KEDA/HPA metrics.
• Terraform (Infrastructure as Code): End-to-end management of infrastructure, clusters, and resources through Terraform with best IaC practices.
• CI/CD Pipelines: Building, maintaining, and optimizing pipelines for reliable, version-controlled deployments (GitLab, Jenkins, ArgoCD, etc.).
• Helm Charts: Experience in packaging, versioning, and managing complex deployments across multiple environments.
• Troubleshooting & Incident Response: Strong ability to diagnose, analyze, and resolve production issues under pressure.
• Google Cloud Certification (ACE or PCA): Mandatory certification validating cloud proficiency.
• Linux & Networking Fundamentals: Solid grasp of system administration, shell commands, and networking concepts (DNS, Load Balancing, Firewalls).
• Communication & Ownership: Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills with an ability to take ownership of deliverables.

Preferred Skills

• Istio / Service Mesh: Experience in mTLS, routing, ingress, and observability in microservices architecture.
• Advanced Deployment Strategies: Mastery in Blue/Green, Canary, and Zero-Downtime Deployments for large-scale systems.
• Monitoring & Observability: Exposure to Prometheus, Grafana, Stackdriver, or equivalent monitoring tools.
• Security & Compliance: Understanding of DevSecOps practices, secrets management, and policy enforcement (e.g., HashiCorp Vault, OPA).
• Container Build & Image Management: Experience with Docker, Container Registry, and build optimization.
• Incident Automation: Implementing automated alerting and remediation for common operational issues.
• GitOps Frameworks: Familiarity with tools like ArgoCD or Flux for Git-based deployment management.
