Job Title: Asst. Manager / Manager / Sr. Manager Human Resources (Industrial Relations)

Job Purpose:

To lead and manage the Industrial Relations function at the plant/site level, ensuring smooth labor relations, compliance with statutory laws, effective union management, and a harmonious work environment aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities:

Industrial Relations Strategy & Execution:

  • Develop and implement IR strategies to ensure peaceful and productive labor relations.
  • Lead negotiations with trade unions for wage settlements, long-term agreements, and other collective bargaining matters.
  • Proactively identify and mitigate IR risks and potential conflicts.
  • Build effective relationships with union representatives and workforce to foster trust and transparency.

Grievance Redressal & Disciplinary Action:

  • Manage employee grievances and disciplinary processes as per applicable laws and internal policies.
  • Conduct domestic enquiries, ensure proper documentation, and drive fair resolutions.
  • Guide line managers on handling shop floor discipline and behavioral issues.

Statutory Compliance & Audits:

  • Ensure compliance with all applicable labor laws (Factories Act, ID Act, CLRA, ESI, PF, etc.).
  • Maintain accurate records, registers, and reports as per statutory requirements.
  • Liaise with labor department officials, inspectors, and represent the company during audits or legal proceedings.
  • Will be involved in Payroll processing of workers

Contract Labor Management:

  • Monitor and manage contract labor agencies to ensure legal and policy compliance.
  • Oversee contract workforce deployment, wage disbursement, and welfare provisions.
  • Conduct periodic contractor audits and resolve contractor-related issues effectively.

Employee Engagement & Communication:

  • Drive employee relations initiatives to promote engagement and workplace harmony.
  • Conduct town halls, skip-level meetings, and communication forums between management and workers.
  • Lead cultural and welfare programs to enhance employee satisfaction and retention.

Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong understanding of Indian labor laws and statutory compliance.
  • Proven track record in union handling and collective bargaining.
  • Conflict management and dispute resolution skills.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and in a dynamic environment.
  • High level of integrity, fairness, and discretion.

Educational Qualifications:

  • Postgraduate in Human Resources / Industrial Relations / Labor Welfare
    (e.g., MSW, MBA-HR, PGDHRM, MLW, etc.)

Experience:

  • Minimum

    8 years

    of relevant experience in

    Industrial Relations

    in a unionized manufacturing, engineering, steel, cement, or heavy industry environment.
  • Experience in managing large blue-collar workforce and contract labor operations is essential.
