Job Description

Due to growing success within the Technology and Security Consulting Busineess we are looking for an experienced ICT & Telecommunications Engineer on a permanent staff basis. You will be joining a growing Technology Systems team and helping deliver leading edge technology solutions to various clients, across the following secotrs: • Healthcare • Commercial / Mixed Use Developments • Data Centres • Aviation • Transport & Infrastructure


Responsibilities


As an ICT & Telecommunications Engineer you will be responsible for development and publishing of Telecommunications Designs to support projects by undertaking detailed designs relating to ICT & Telecommunications Systems including:

  • Structured Cabling Systems (SCS)
  • Communications Rooms and supporting systems inlculing rack elevations
  • Outside Plant Infrastructure (OSP)
  • Active ICT Networks
  • Wireless LAN and Wi-Fi modelling
  • RF Systems
  • Technology platforms and systems (i.e., nurse call systems, audio visual, video conference systems, unifed comms solutions, smart building, space management solutions, etc.)

You will also be responsible for preparing reports, specifications, calculations, and drawings to enable the tendering of works to enable a suitably qualified integrator / contractor to undertake the installation and commission of the systems and solutions.

You will be required to liaise with other engineers, vendors and contractors from time to time through out the duration of the project.

The successful candidate will also be required to mentor junior and graduate engineers and work within a multi-discipline (ICT & Telecommunications, Audio Visual, Security, Automation and Integration and Smart Places) design team.

The right candidate will be well versed and experienced in ICT and Telecommunications design utilising standards such as BICSI, ISO, IEEE, Certified Wireless Network Professional Design Guidelines, Cisco & Aruba networking and wireless design guidelines.

As such the successful candidate have vendor and industry certifications to demonstrate capability and skill level.


Qualifications

The candidate must demonstrate the qualifications and experience/capability described below:

  • Master of Engineering in an electronic, computer systems or telecommunications course of study or Master of Science in an Information Technology (Networks).
  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical and Electronics Engineering
  • Preferably past experience in mentoring.
  • Must be pursuing Chartered Engineer (CEng) in a relevant engineering discipline (MIET, etc.).
  • Extensive experience, preferably in the Asia Pacific, USA, Middle East, or UK in leading, producing and checking ICT and Telecommunications designs
  • Underpinning knowledge of Network design principles and significant experience working within critical environments
  • As an ICT & Telecommunications Engineer you will need to have detailed knowledge on the design and integration of various systems and subsystems, these will include but not limited to;
  • Telecommunications Network (FTN and FTNx)
  • Structured Cablign Systems (Fibre and Copper)
  • Active Network Design (Cisco, Aruba, Dell, etc)
  • Sever (Compute) and SAN (Storrage) solutions
  • Firewalls and network protection systems
  • Radio systems
  • Multiprotocol Label Switching Networks (MPLS)
  • Internet Protocol Closed Circuit Television (IP-CCTV) Systems
  • EN54 Public Address and Voice Alarm Systems
  • Integrated Station / Building Management Systems (ISMS, IBMS)
  • Customer Information Systems (CIS)
  • IP based Access Control Systems
  • Multi-mode Intruder Detection Systems
  • Wireless Network Architecture
  • Voice Over Internet Protocol (VOIP) including:
  • Video Intercom Systems
  • Passenger Help Points
  • BMS (Building Management System)
  • Telephony
  • Long Term Evolution (LTE Radio) propagation modelling, base station configuration, bandwidth management.
  • Experience in the preparation of conceptual reports, telecommunications scheme designs, project documentation, specifications, contract schedules, implementation/ construction plans and costings to client requirements.
  • Previous experience in developing, analysing, assessing and implementation of Network Bandwidth allocation for MPLS converged networks
  • Provision of specialist technical support and assistance major projects, and management of allocated junior support staff.
  • Expert use of telecommunications design packages
  • Required Office Software:
  • MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook
  • At least one of the following:
  • Visio
  • Bluebeam (including Bluebean Studio)
  • Ekahau
  • Revit
  • Autodesk AutoCAD
  • Aconex
  • Familiarity with health & safety and systems engineering/design assurance requirements
  • Stimulated by meeting technical challenges
