The Head – Electrical will be responsible for leading the entire electrical function of the plant, ensuring reliable and safe operation of all electrical systems and equipment. This role is entirely plant-driven, covering power distribution, utility systems, electrical maintenance, energy optimization, safety compliance, and PLC management. The incumbent will play a key role in minimizing downtime, improving asset reliability, ensuring statutory compliance, and driving energy efficiency initiatives across the plant.

Electrical Operations & Maintenance

1.     Oversee all electrical systems within the plant including HT/LT panels, switchgear, transformers, motors, drives, DG sets, and UPS systems.

2.     Ensure uninterrupted power supply to plant operations by monitoring and managing distribution networks.

3.     Lead preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance of all plant electrical equipment.

4.     Troubleshoot and resolve major electrical faults, ensuring minimal downtime.

5.     Program, Troubleshoot and maintain PLCs

6.     Ensure compliance with statutory and regulatory requirements related to electrical systems.

7.     Implement electrical safety standards (IS, IEC, IEEE, NFPA, etc.) and conduct regular audits.

8.     Drive Zero Accident culture with robust electrical safety practices, lockout/tagout, and training.

9.     Liaise with government agencies, inspectors, and external auditors for statutory compliance.

Energy Management & Optimization

1.     Drive initiatives for power factor improvement, demand-side management, and energy efficiency.

2.     Monitor and control power consumption across various sections of the plant.

3.     Implement renewable and sustainable power solutions where feasible.

4.     Conduct energy audits and execute cost-saving measures.

·      Team Leadership & Development

1.     Lead a team of supervisors and technicians

2.     Provide technical guidance, mentorship, and performance management.

3.     Build a strong O&M capability in-house by training the team on advanced diagnostic tools and best practices.

·      Asset Reliability & Improvement

1.     Drive continuous improvement in equipment reliability, MTBF (Mean Time Between Failure), and MTTR (Mean Time to Repair).

2.     Introduce advanced diagnostic and condition monitoring tools (thermal imaging, partial discharge, vibration, etc.).

3.     Coordinate with vendors, OEMs, and service providers for technical support and AMC management.

·      Coordination & Reporting

1.     Collaborate with production, mechanical, instrumentation, and utilities teams for smooth plant operations.

2.     Prepare and present MIS reports on energy consumption, downtime, and electrical KPIs.

3.     Plan and monitor annual electrical maintenance budgets and CAPEX for upgrades.

·       Strong knowledge of power distribution systems, PLCs, HT/LT systems, and industrial electrical maintenance.

·       Expertise in preventive and predictive maintenance strategies.

·       Familiarity with SCADA, PLC, and automation in electrical systems.

·       In-depth knowledge of electrical safety standards and statutory compliance.

·       Analytical mindset with strong troubleshooting and decision-making skills.

·       Leadership and team-building ability to manage large plant teams.

·       Good communication and coordination skills.

• B.E./B.Tech in Electrical Engineering

• Certifications in Energy Management / Safety / Electrical Regulations will be an added advantage.

• 10-15 years of experience in plant electrical operations & maintenance in a manufacturing/steel/power/FMCG/chemical plant.

• Proven track record in managing HT/LT distribution, electrical safety, and energy optimization.
