Description
About the Role :We are seeking an accomplished Solution Architect with deep expertise in Digital Twin architectures and cloud-native data solutions to define, design, and deliver the next-generation Digital Twin platform. This role demands a blend of architectural vision, hands-on technical depth, and cross-functional leadership to establish a scalable, interoperable, and secure Digital Twin ecosystem. The Solution Architect will be responsible for building a unified Meta Twin data model, establishing a single source of truth, and leading the end-to-end architectural design across data ingestion, processing, and visualization layers. You will work closely with Data Engineering, AI/ML, DevOps, and Product teams to evolve the Digital Twin platform from MVP to enterprise-grade maturity.
Key Responsibilities
- Architectural Design & Strategy :
- Design the Meta Twin database schema and define a universal coordinate and identity mapping system to unify asset, event, and spatial data across domains.
- Develop a comprehensive enterprise architecture encompassing system components, data flows, service layers, and integration patterns.
- Define and maintain the Digital Twin reference architecture, ensuring alignment with scalability, interoperability, and modular design principles.
- Map the end-to-end data lifecycle from IoT data ingestion, ETL/ELT pipelines, and transformation to visualization, simulation, and API exposure.
- Establish architectural standards, best practices, and reusable design patterns that ensure reliability, performance, and maintainability.
- Technology Selection & Implementation :
- Evaluate and recommend the optimal technology stack (preferably Microsoft Azure) to meet business and technical objectives.
- Lead proof-of-concepts (PoCs) and architecture validations for critical components such as real-time event processing, metadata management, and simulation orchestration.
- Design and implement cloud-native integration patterns leveraging services such as Azure Digital Twins, Event Hubs, Service Bus, Data Factory, Cosmos DB, Synapse Analytics, and Azure Functions.
- Integrate open-source frameworks (e.g., Kafka, Kubernetes, PostgreSQL, Docker) to support extensibility and cost efficiency.
- Collaborate with security and compliance teams to implement data governance frameworks, identity management, and secure communication protocols.
- Documentation & Delivery Excellence :
- Deliver architecture blueprints, component diagrams, and system interaction flows using tools such as Lucidchart, Draw.io, or Enterprise Architect.
- Produce technical design documentation including data models, schema definitions, API contracts, and infrastructure deployment specifications.
- Ensure architectural artifacts adhere to enterprise security, compliance, and data management policies.
- Provide oversight throughout implementation to ensure architectural fidelity and quality assurance in the final deliverable.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement :
- Partner with cross-functional teams including Data Engineering, AI/ML, IoT, and DevOps to ensure the architecture supports evolving analytical and operational requirements.
- Provide technical leadership and mentorship to development teams, promoting architectural discipline and modern engineering practices.
- Facilitate technical reviews, design walkthroughs, and executive presentations to ensure transparent communication and informed decision-making.
- Act as a trusted advisor to business and technology leaders, articulating architectural trade-offs, opportunities, and risks.

Required Skills & Qualifications
- 12+ years of experience in software and data architecture, including at least 3+ years in cloud-based or Digital Twin/IoT platform design.
- Advanced proficiency in Azure Cloud Services : Azure Digital Twins, Event Hubs, Data Factory, Cosmos DB, Azure Functions, Synapse Analytics, Logic Apps, and Service Bus.
- Strong expertise in data modeling, metadata management, and API-driven architectures (REST, GraphQL).
- Deep understanding of event-driven and microservices architectures using Kafka, Kubernetes, and containerized deployments.
- Proven experience in IoT and real-time data streaming frameworks, with a focus on scalability, observability, and resilience.
- Ability to define and implement CI/CD pipelines and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using tools like Terraform or Azure DevOps.
- Strong understanding of security frameworks, data privacy, and compliance (GDPR, ISO 27001, SOC 2).
- Demonstrated experience delivering architecture blueprints, reference implementations, and enterprise-grade technical documentation.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into actionable strategies.

Preferred Qualifications
- Hands-on experience with Digital Twin, Simulation, or Industrial IoT platforms (e.g., Siemens MindSphere, PTC ThingWorx, or Bentley iTwin).
- Familiarity with AI/ML integration within data-driven architectures, including predictive modeling and anomaly detection.
- Experience implementing graph-based data models or knowledge graphs for Digital Twin relationships.
- Cloud certification such as Microsoft Certified : Azure Solutions Architect Expert or equivalent.
- Exposure to edge computing frameworks and stream analytics pipelines for hybrid IoT deployments.
