About SVYM:

SVYM aims to provide equitable and quality education to all children in the age group of 3 – 18 years with a special focus on the girl child and children from the underprivileged communities. SVYM’s educational institutions have functioned as a laboratory to develop to prototypes of innovative models in school education which can then be scaled to the Government-run-schools through the community education programs. Through the 4 educational institutions and the community education programs, SVYM reaches over 50,000 students across the state of Karnataka.

SVYM’s work has been acknowledged by the Government officials, parents and students as models to be emulated by others. SVYM has also contributed to the policymaking and policy implementation at district, state and national levels.

Job Summary:

The Director of Education is responsible for developing and overseeing educational programs that align with the vision, mission and values of SVYM. This role requires strategic leadership, curriculum development expertise, and strong community engagement skills to ensure impactful learning experiences for the community.

Key Responsibilities:

• Program Development:

  Design, implement, and evaluate educational initiatives that support the organization’s mission.

• Team Leadership:

  Manage and mentor staff in the education sector, volunteers, and facilitators to foster a culture of collaboration, innovation and continuous learning.

• Community Engagement:

  Build relationships with Government bodies, schools, SDMCs, educators and other organizations to expand program reach.

• Funding & Partnerships:

  Collaborate with experts, well-wishers, grant-making organisations, donors, like-minded organisations and teams within SVYM to ensure technical know-how and funding to execute the planned activities with desired quality and effectiveness.

• Performance Measurement:

  Establish impact metrics and assess program effectiveness through data-driven evaluations on a periodic basis.

• Policy & Advocacy:

  Demonstrate scalable and replicable models leading to adoption by other stakeholders. Participate in policy-making programs aimed at improving educational opportunities for children, especially from underprivileged communities.

Curriculum & Training:

• Program Administration:

  Manage budgets, resources, and operational logistics to ensure smooth functioning of the programs and uphold high standards of efficiency and effectiveness.

• Statutory Compliance:

  Periodically review and ensure compliance with all the norms and bye laws of the regulatory and affiliating bodies, Government, donors and SVYM.

• Documentation and Reporting:

  Ensuring documentation of all key activities and report to all stakeholders on a timely basis.

Qualifications & Requirements:

• Master’s degree in Education, Non-profit Management, or a related field. 
• Proven experience in educational program development and leadership. 
• Strong communication, organizational, and networking skills. 
• Ability to manage budgets, grants, and project timelines. 
• Knowledge of education trends, equity issues, and community development practices. 

Preferred Skills:

• Passion for social impact and education reform. 
• Experience working with diverse communities and stakeholders. 
• Grant writing and fundraising expertise. 
• Proficiency in digital learning tools and educational technology.
