Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and technically adept Director of Hardware Engineering to lead the design, development, and deployment of electronic hardware systems across our smart energy, IoT, and renewable energy product lines. The ideal candidate will bring deep hands-on expertise in analog/digital hardware design, power electronics, smart metering, and IoT communication hardware, and demonstrate leadership in product lifecycle management, compliance, and cross-functional coordination.
Key Responsibilities
Lead end-to-end product development lifecycle: concept, architecture, design, validation, and deployment.
Design and guide the development of AC-DC, DC-DC converters, SMPS, battery chargers, and motor controllers using topologies like Flyback, Forward, Push-Pull, and Half Bridge.
Architect and validate hardware platforms for smart meters, energy measurement, BMS, and IoT-connected devices.
Drive integration of wireless protocols (Zigbee, Wi-Fi, GSM, BLE, RF), PLC, and Powerline communication systems.
Direct PCB design and validation using Altium, Protel, OrCAD, or equivalent tools.
Oversee the design of communication hardware platforms enabling remote meter reading, control, and analytics.
Enable secure, scalable IoT infrastructure including GSM/3G/4G, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, PLC/DLC and RS-232/RS-485, CAN interfaces.
Guide firmware-hardware integration for data telemetry and remote updates.
Lead EMI/EMC validation and ensure designs comply with IEC, UL, EN, RED/R&TTE, SAR, and smart metering standards (e.g., DLMS, IS 16444).
Implement FMECA, DFMEA, derating, and reliability analysis across new product development.
Leadership & Project Execution
Manage a team of design engineers and cross-functional stakeholders through project planning, technical reviews, and product launches
Ensure DFM/DFT principles and coordinate with EMS, production, vendor teams for successful design transfer.
Drive multi-product platform alignment and technology roadmapping across energy metering, medical, and industrial electronics domains.
B.E./B.Tech in Electronics/Electrical/E&C Engineering
M.Tech/MS or MBA/PGDBA (Operations) is a plus
Proven expertise in:
SMPS topologies, EMI/EMC compliance
Smart meter architecture, metering protocols, and RF/PLC comms
IoT hardware integration, including wireless and serial protocols
Low-power battery-operated designs
Tools: Altium, OrCAD, PSpice, LTSpice, Mathcad
Additional Skills:
Strong knowledge of design for compliance (IEC, UL, EMI/EMC)
Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
Strategic mindset with proven people management and mentorship capabilities
