Department Manager - Fashion & Lifestyle

to lead sales performance, customer experience, and operational excellence within the department. The ideal candidate will be a strong sales leader with a deep understanding of fashion and lifestyle retail, capable of driving revenue growth while building and motivating high-performing teams. This role requires a hands-on approach to sales execution, merchandising, and customer engagement to consistently exceed business targets.

Requirements

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Revenue Growth

  • Own and drive department sales targets, ensuring consistent achievement of daily, weekly, and monthly revenue goals.
  • Analyze sales trends, conversion rates, average ticket size, and sell-through to identify growth opportunities.
  • Implement effective sales strategies, promotions, and upselling/cross-selling techniques to maximize revenue.
  • Ensure strong execution of brand and seasonal campaigns on the shop floor to boost sales performance.

Customer Experience & Engagement

  • Deliver an exceptional customer experience by maintaining high service standards and resolving customer concerns promptly.
  • Build long-term customer relationships through personalized styling advice, loyalty initiatives, and repeat engagement.
  • Ensure the department reflects current fashion trends and customer preferences to enhance footfall and conversions.

Team Leadership & Performance Management

  • Lead, coach, and motivate the sales team to achieve individual and departmental targets.
  • Conduct regular training sessions on product knowledge, selling techniques, and customer handling.
  • Monitor individual performance, provide constructive feedback, and support career development within the team.
  • Foster a high-energy, customer-first sales culture focused on accountability and results.

Merchandising & Operations

  • Ensure effective visual merchandising in line with brand guidelines to maximize product visibility and sales.
  • Manage inventory levels, replenishment, and stock rotation to minimize stock loss and maximize sell-through.
  • Coordinate with buying, merchandising, and supply teams to ensure availability of fast-moving and seasonal products.
  • Maintain operational discipline, including SOP compliance, shrinkage control, and store hygiene standards.

Reporting & Business Insights

  • Prepare and review sales reports, KPIs, and performance dashboards to track progress against targets.
  • Use data-driven insights to optimize staffing, promotions, and product placement.
  • Share actionable feedback with senior management to improve overall business performance.

Key Skills & Competencies

  • Strong sales acumen with proven ability to drive revenue in fashion or lifestyle retail.
  • Excellent customer engagement, communication, and negotiation skills.
  • Hands-on experience in team management, coaching, and performance tracking.
  • Good understanding of visual merchandising, inventory control, and retail operations.
  • Ability to analyze sales data and translate insights into actionable strategies.
  • Passion for fashion, trends, and lifestyle brands.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • 3-9 years of experience in fashion, lifestyle, or retail sales, with at least 1-2 years in a supervisory or managerial role
