Pratham’s Teaching at the Right Level (TaRL) approach has demonstrated proven impact on children’s learning outcomes and is now being adapted to contexts outside India.

Project Summary

Pratham is implementing a project to strengthen the education system by embedding competency-based education, value education through sports and environmental awareness into teaching and learning practices. A central focus of the project will be to bring systemic alignment in the implementation of competency-based education, which involves reviewing state and national policies, adapting curricula, reforming assessment practices, and building teacher capacities so that learning becomes outcomes-focused and future-ready. Innovative approaches, including the Sport Values in Every Classroom Toolkit (SViECT), will be used to bring these values into classrooms in practical and engaging ways. At the same time, the project will study greening education and climate change integration in the education system by reviewing the activities of the Eco-clubs, developing climate-responsive learning resources. 

Position Summary

The Data Associate will be responsible for conducting advanced data collection, analysis, and visualisation to support research, monitoring, and evaluation under the project. The incumbent will play a key role in synthesising findings from policy reviews, teacher training workshops, eco-club assessments, and school-level data into actionable insights for Pratham. This role requires strong analytical skills, the ability to handle large datasets, and proficiency in modern data visualisation and AI-assisted tools to ensure evidence-driven decision-making and effective reporting.

Key Responsibilities

Research & Data Analysis

• Design, implement, and manage research studies aligned with project outputs (policy review, teacher capacity building, eco-club strengthening, green school standards).
• Conduct quantitative and qualitative data analysis from surveys, interviews, focus group discussions, and school visits.
• Apply Generative AI tools, Power BI, and Tableau for data cleaning, visualisation, and generating advanced insights.
• Support the development of a teacher capacity assessment report, an eco-club status report, and a gender analysis report through robust data analysis.
• Contribute to the preparation of technical papers, briefs, and presentations for UNESCO and government stakeholders.

Monitoring, Measurement & Reporting

• Track progress against project indicators and deliverables using statistical and visualisation tools.
• Prepare fortnightly updates, monthly progress summaries, and quarterly analytical reports to highlight trends, achievements, challenges, and recommendations.
• Consolidate inputs for the final comprehensive project report, integrating evidence-based insights, case studies, and best practices.
• Ensure accurate documentation and integration of field data into project databases and dashboards.

Stakeholder Coordination & Documentation

• Collaborate with project teams,  experts, and state government counterparts to align data analysis with policy and programmatic priorities.
• Provide technical support for scoping missions, consultations, and training workshops, including data-driven presentations.
• Document and disseminate findings in accessible formats for diverse audiences, including policymakers, educators, and community stakeholders.
• Support the development of communication outputs (infographics, dashboards, case studies, audiovisuals) based on data insights.

Required Skills & Abilities

Education & Experience

• An undergraduate or postgraduate degree with up to 1–3 years of relevant full-time work experience in research, data analysis, and reporting. Experience in education or sustainability-focused projects will be preferred.
• Strong quantitative and qualitative analysis skills with proven ability to manage and analyse large datasets.
• Proficiency in MS Excel (advanced), Google Suite, and statistical software (SPSS/Stata/R/Python).
• Hands-on experience with Power BI, Tableau, or similar data visualisation platforms.
• Excellent report writing, documentation, and presentation skills in English; proficiency in Hindi required
• Ability to work independently, manage timelines, and coordinate with multiple stakeholders.

AI, Data Visualisation, and Advanced Tools

• Strong understanding of Generative AI applications in data analysis, reporting, and visualisation.
• Hands-on experience with data visualisation platforms such as Power BI and Tableau to create interactive dashboards and analytical reports.
• Ability to leverage AI-assisted tools for data cleaning, advanced analytics, and insight generation to strengthen evidence-based decision-making.

Working Details

• A full-time, in-person role based in Shimla/Delhi with frequent travel across Himachal Pradesh
• Remuneration will be between INR 30,000-38,000 CTC per month, based on relevant experience
