Job Summary:

We are looking for a dynamic and passionate DIGIT Community Engagement Manager to lead our community-building initiatives around the DIGIT platform. This role is perfect for a software engineering professional with a deep commitment to open source, who thrives on building and nurturing strong, collaborative communities. You will play a key role in expanding the DIGIT ecosystem, enabling external communities to build on and contribute to DIGIT, while working closely with the internal eGov team to align development efforts with community needs.

Key Responsibilities:

Community Engagement

• Drive and oversee community engagement efforts focused on the DIGIT platform.
• Cultivate an inclusive, vibrant ecosystem where developers, users, and partners actively collaborate.
• Organize and manage community events such as webinars, hackathons, meetups, and workshops to drive engagement.
• Serve as the primary liaison between the DIGIT community and the internal development team.

Open Source Advocacy:

• Actively participate in and contribute to open source projects, using your experience to advocate for and integrate community-driven contributions.
• Leverage your background in open source to build credibility and trust among community members.

Collaboration and Coordination:

• Work with the internal eGov team to carve out projects and tasks that align with both internal goals and community initiatives.
• Coordinate community contributions, ensuring they are integrated into DIGIT’s development roadmap.
• Gather and relay community feedback to continuously improve the platform.

Communication and Outreach:

• Develop and execute strategic communication plans to share DIGIT’s vision, updates, and successes with the community.
• Create and curate developer-facing content (blogs, newsletters, tutorials, release notes).
• Amplify community contributions and successes through newsletters and social media.
• Monitor and report on community engagement metrics to refine outreach strategies.

Contributor Support and Growth:

• Develop onboarding guides and contributor documentation
• Assist new contributors with onboarding, triaging issues, and PR reviews
• Recognize and reward community contributions through badges, shoutouts, or swag.
• Setup the DIGIT Community Governance including community guidelines, code of conduct, manage moderation and conflict resolution

Required Qualifications:

• A degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
• Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills with a passion for community building.
• Demonstrated active involvement in open source projects, with a track record of contributions.
• Experience in coordinating projects and tasks across teams, with strong project management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience with digital transformation initiatives in the public sector.
• Familiarity with platforms similar to DIGIT or related operating systems for government IT environments.
• Proven ability to thrive in dynamic, fast-paced environments and adapt to evolving priorities.
