roles and Responsibilities of Civil Engineer (Including RMC Plant, QA/QC, Procurement, Concrete Design, 2D/3D Drawings)
1. Project Planning & Coordination
Plan, schedule, and execute civil works in line with project timelines.
Coordinate with architects, consultants, contractors, and vendors.
Ensure compliance with drawings, technical specifications, and safety regulations.
2. RMC Plant Establishment & Operations
Plan the layout and infrastructure for Ready-Mix Concrete (RMC) plant setup.
Select and coordinate with machinery/equipment suppliers for batching, mixing, and material handling.
Oversee installation, commissioning, and trial runs of the RMC plant.
Monitor production quality, batching accuracy, and operational efficiency.
3. Quality Assurance (QA)
Develop and implement QA procedures for civil works and concrete production.
Ensure all materials meet relevant IS codes and project specifications.
Review and approve method statements and work procedures.
Maintain QA documentation and compliance records.
4. Quality Control (QC)
Conduct on-site inspections to verify work quality and adherence to specifications.
Perform and supervise concrete and aggregate testing (slump, cube strength, sieve analysis, etc.).
Maintain site test records and initiate corrective measures when required.Verify reinforcement placement, formwork quality, and curing practices.
5. Material Procurement
Identify, source, and procure raw materials (cement, aggregates, steel, admixtures, etc.) as per project needs.
Maintain vendor database and evaluate supplier performance.
Monitor inventory and ensure timely delivery of materials to avoid delays.
Negotiate prices, prepare purchase orders, and follow up with suppliers.
6. Concrete Mix Design
Prepare mix designs based on strength, workability, durability, and environmental conditions.
Optimize cement content, water-cement ratio, and admixture dosage for cost-effectiveness.
Conduct trial mixes and finalize designs in compliance with IS codes.
Maintain records of all mix designs and test reports.
7. Drawings & Design Management
Prepare and review 2D CAD drawings for structural, architectural, and site layout works.
Develop 3D models for better visualization and client presentations.
Check for discrepancies between drawings and actual site conditions.
Ensure as-built drawings are updated and documented after project completion.
8. Site Supervision & Execution
Supervise daily site activities to ensure adherence to plan and safety norms.
Resolve technical issues and provide solutions on-site.
Manage subcontractors and workforce to meet productivity targets.
Ensure proper curing, finishing, and protection of completed work.
9. Safety & Compliance
Implement safety protocols for workers and machinery.
Conduct regular safety meetings and toolbox talks.
Ensure compliance with environmental and labor laws.
10. Documentation & Reporting
Maintain site logs, daily progress reports, and material consumption records.
Prepare monthly project status and cost reports.
Document QA/QC test reports, purchase records, and equipment maintenance logs.
