Chief Finance Officer

Key Responsibilities

• Group Financial Strategy & Leadership
• Build the entire Finance function in India, including payables, receivables, and financial control.
• Establish and scale the finance team in Mumbai.
• Ensure statutory filings, GST compliance, and centralised tax operations from Maharashtra.
• Manage banking relationships, funds, and financial risk.
• Support strategic expansion into MEA and Europe; work closely with Himanshu and report to the CFO.
• Provide consulting/advisory leadership to support the company’s asset-light logistics model
• Develop financial strategies aligned with the Organisation's growth in air freight, ocean freight, e-commerce logistics, projects, and country consolidation solutions.
• Digital Finance & Data Driven Enablement
• Drive financial control, governance, innovation, and data-driven decision-making.
• Integrate IT and finance systems, including SAP / GT Nexus / Cargo Wise.
• Drive metrics like :
• GP per ton/TEU/per shipment
• Carrier & vendor cost management
• Branch-level performance scorecards
• Key trade lane profitability (Asia–US, MEA, EU lanes)
• Cash Flow, Treasury & Working Capital
• Finance Organisation Design & Capability Building
• Re-design and modernise the finance function to move beyond transactional accounting.
• Build a capable team, set clear roles, and develop high-potential finance talent.
• Introduce training and mentoring programs to enhance analytical and leadership depth in finance teams.
• Business Partnering & Profitability Improvement
• Work closely with:
• Country finance leads
• Regional operations heads
• Trade lane managers
• Provide financial guidance for:
• Pricing strategies
• Carrier contract negotiations
• Route profitability
• New customer tenders
• Operational efficiency programs
• Support M&A evaluations and due diligence for new market entries.
• Banking & Stakeholder Relationships
• Strengthen relationships with banks, auditors, investors, and regulatory authorities.
• Establish senior-level (C-suite) connections with financial institutions to support working capital optimisation, credit facilities, and expansion plans.
• Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, tax frameworks, and internal controls.
• Key Requirements
• MBA from a Top Tier business school in Finance or equivalent.
• 15-25 years of progressive finance leadership experience, especially in freight forwarding.
• Strong regional or multi-country experience (preferred: South Asia).
• Analytical ability to interpret complex operational and financial data.
• Sharp commercial understanding of forwarding, rate management, and P&L drivers.
• High integrity with a strong governance mindset.
• Ability to drive digital transformation and operational compliance.
