Job Title: Sales Operations Manager – Modern Trade (Maharashtra Goa Region)

Location: Mumbai

Department: Sales (Modern Trade)

Reports to: Head – Modern Trade


Role Overview:

The Sales Operations Manager (Modern Trade) will be responsible for ensuring smooth execution of business with key Modern Trade partners. This role will manage sales operations across MT customers in given region including secondary sales reporting, promotions, trade schemes, claim management, and stock availability. The role acts as the link between Central sales (Key accounts Manager), supply chain and modern trade partners to deliver revenue, visibility, and execution objectives. Person will also responsible to manage ground team.


Key Responsibilities:

1. Business Planning and execution

  • Execute & Support in annual/quarterly Joint Business Planning (JBP) with key MT accounts.
  • Track primary vs. secondary sales and identify gaps at account/SKU level.
  • Track fill rates, OOS (out-of-stock) %, and work with MT partners to reduce supply gaps.

2. Promotions & Trade Schemes

  • Coordinate execution of trade promotions, discounts, and visibility programs at Store level.
  • Ensure timely communication of promotions to field team.
  • Track competition brand activities and report to central team.

3. Process Excellence & Compliance

  • Standardize ways of working with MT accounts – pricing, schemes, visibility.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, audit requirements, and account agreements.
  • Support in automation/digitization of sales processes and reporting.

4. Cross-functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Key account managers and marketing agencies for activation execution and visibility tracking.
  • Work closely with key account managers to provide analytical and operational support.


Key Skills & Competencies:

  • Strong knowledge of FMCG Modern Trade operations (sales, schemes, visibility).
  • Excellent team player
  • Good understanding of supply chain processes (demand planning, fill rate, OOS tracking).
  • Strong stakeholder management – majorly external (Store teams / Regional buyers)
  • Detail-oriented with a focus on process discipline and accuracy.
  • Team management


Qualifications & Experience:

  • MBA/PGDM in Sales, Marketing, Operations, or equivalent.
  • 2-4 years of FMCG experience in Modern Trade sales operations
  • Exposure to large MT accounts (Reliance, Dmart, Wellness Forever etc.) preferred.
