Role Description

This is a full-time on-site role for a Business Development Specialist, located in Mumbai. The Business Development Specialist will be responsible for generating leads, conducting market research, and developing strategies to acquire new clients. The role includes analyzing market trends, building and maintaining customer relationships, and providing exceptional customer service. Daily tasks also involve effective communication with potential clients and internal team members to promote and develop business initiatives.

Role Objective

Drive new business opportunities and strategic partnerships for the events vertical, ensuring consistent pipeline growth, client conversions, and long-term relationships that align with company goals.

Key Responsibilities

Business Development & Sales

  • Identify, target, and convert potential clients (corporates, associations, government, MICE, conferences, etc.).
  • Generate leads through networking, referrals, databases, and market intelligence.
  • Pitch agency/event solutions via customized proposals & presentations.
  • Meet quarterly and annual revenue targets through new client acquisition.

Client Relationship Management

  • Build and nurture strong client relationships for repeat business.
  • Understand client needs, pain points, and business objectives to tailor event solutions.
  • Work closely with internal creative & operations teams to ensure proposals are relevant and executable.

Market Intelligence

  • Track market trends, competitor activities, and emerging experiential opportunities.
  • Suggest new service offerings (tech integrations, sustainability solutions, hybrid event formats).

Collaboration & Coordination

  • Partner with marketing to create BD collaterals, case studies, and digital campaigns.
  • Work with senior leadership to develop strategic growth plans for new sectors.
  • Ensure seamless handover of signed clients to the client servicing/operations team.

Candidate Profile

  • 5–8 years experience in

    event business development / sales

    (agency, experiential marketing, MICE, media).
  • Proven track record of

    achieving sales targets

    in events/conferences/offsites/SKOs.
  • Strong network of corporate decision-makers (HR, Marketing, CXO office, Procurement).
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Self-starter, ambitious, and thrives in high-performance environments.
  • Understanding of

    event trends, experiential tech, and sustainability practices

    is a plus.
