Job Description

A Business Development Manager (BDM) is responsible for driving company growth by identifying new business opportunities, building strategic partnerships, and increasing revenue. Key duties include conducting market research, generating leads through various channels, nurturing client relationships, negotiating contracts, and collaborating with internal teams like sales and marketing. Key responsibilities

  • Strategic planning: Develop and implement business growth strategies, set growth targets, and create detailed business plans to enter new markets or develop new products.
  • Market research: Conduct thorough research on market trends, customer needs, and competitors to identify new opportunities and align strategies accordingly.
  • Lead generation and prospecting: Identify and pursue potential clients through networking, cold outreach, industry events, and other channels to build a pipeline of qualified leads.
  • Relationship building: Build and maintain long-term relationships with clients and partners, responding to inquiries, addressing concerns, and identifying opportunities for upselling or cross-selling.
  • Sales and negotiation: Create and deliver compelling pitches and proposals, negotiate contracts, and close deals to secure profitable agreements.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with sales, marketing, and product development teams to ensure goals are aligned and projects run smoothly.
  • Reporting: Track and report on sales performance, client satisfaction, and other key metrics to senior management, and analyze data to recommend improvements.
  • Contract review: Review sales contracts to ensure they comply with legal and corporate guidelines.

Typical qualifications

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Business, Marketing, or a related field is often required.
  • Experience: Previous experience in business development, sales, or a related field is typically necessary.
  • Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, negotiation, and interpersonal skills are essential. Proficiency with CRM software is also a common requirement.
  • Attributes: Candidates should be self-motivated, results-oriented, and have a strong understanding of their company's products and the competitive landscape.
