The Opportunity

As our Branch Credit Manager in Biaora, you will be the cornerstone of our lending operations for the hub. Reporting to Regional Credit Manager, you will be responsible for meticulously evaluating loan applications, assessing the creditworthiness of potential borrowers, and managing credit risk to build and maintain a high-quality, profitable loan portfolio. This role is critical for implementing robust underwriting standards and ensuring full compliance with our internal policies and RBI regulations.

What You'll Do (Key Responsibilities)

Credit Assessment & Underwriting

  • Lead the evaluation of business loan applications, analyzing financial data, credit history, and repayment capacity.
  • Approve or recommend loan proposals within your designated credit authority limits.
  • Conduct thorough due diligence on applicants, their businesses, residence and the collateral offered.
  • Implement and refine underwriting policies for secured loan products.
  • Ensure strict adherence to the company's credit risk policies and all regulatory guidelines.

Risk Management & Portfolio Monitoring

  • Actively monitor the loan portfolio to identify early warning signals and implement preventive measures.
  • Utilize tools like credit scoring and risk analytics to accurately assess borrower risks.
  • Develop and execute proactive strategies to minimize delinquencies and Non-Performing Assets (NPAs).
  • Collaborate closely with the collections department to enhance recovery efforts and processes.

Compliance & Reporting

  • Guarantee that all credit operations comply with the guidelines set by the RBI, SEBI, and internal NBFC policies.
  • Maintain meticulous documentation and clear audit trails for every credit decision made.
  • Prepare and present detailed credit risk reports for senior management.

Collaboration & Stakeholder Management

  • Work seamlessly with the sales, operations, and collections teams to create a streamlined and efficient credit process.
  • Liaise with external agencies for essential functions like credit verification and fraud detection.
  • Engage effectively with auditors and regulators to ensure compliance and transparency in all credit activities.

What You'll Bring (Qualifications & Skills)

Required Experience & Education

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a similar field.
  • 3-5 years of direct experience in credit risk assessment, underwriting, or loan approvals within an NBFC or the BFSI sector.
  • A proven track record of successfully managing credit portfolios and minimizing NPAs.

Key Competencies

  • In-depth knowledge of credit risk assessment, underwriting principles, and loan structuring.
  • Strong ability to analyze financial statements, evaluate collateral, and use credit scoring models.
  • Expertise in RBI regulations, Basel norms, and established NBFC credit risk frameworks.
  • Proficiency in risk analytics, fraud detection techniques, and NPA management strategies.
  • Exceptional decision-making, analytical thinking, and stakeholder management skills.
