Job Title: Bodyshop Manager Department: Service / After-Sales Reports To: Dealer Principal Job SummaryThe Bodyshop Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the automobile bodyshop, ensuring high-quality repair work, customer satisfaction, efficient workflow, and profitability. This role involves managing technicians, coordinating with insurance companies, controlling costs, and maintaining safety and quality standards. Key ResponsibilitiesOperations Management Plan, organize, and manage all bodyshop operations including denting, painting, and refinishing. Ensure timely completion of repairs according to manufacturer and dealership standards. Monitor job cards, work progress, and vehicle delivery schedules. Team Leadership Supervise, train, and motivate bodyshop technicians, painters, and support staff. Allocate work effectively based on skills and workload. Conduct performance evaluations and recommend training or disciplinary actions as needed. Customer & Insurance Coordination Handle customer concerns and ensure high levels of customer satisfaction. Coordinate with insurance companies for claims, approvals, surveys, and settlements. Ensure accurate estimates, documentation, and billing. Quality Control Inspect completed jobs to ensure quality, safety, and compliance with standards. Reduce rework and ensure first-time-right repairs. Implement continuous improvement in repair processes. Financial & Inventory Control Achieve bodyshop revenue and profitability targets. Control costs related to labor, materials, paint, and consumables. Manage inventory of spare parts, paints, and tools to avoid shortages or overstocking. Safety & Compliance Ensure adherence to safety regulations, environmental norms, and dealership policies. Maintain cleanliness and proper layout of the bodyshop. Ensure proper use and maintenance of tools, equipment, and paint booths. Qualifications & ExperienceDiploma / Bachelor’s degree in Automobile Engineering or related field (preferred). 5–10 years of experience in an automobile bodyshop, with at least 2–3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Strong knowledge of denting, painting, insurance processes, and estimating. Skills & CompetenciesLeadership and people management skills Strong customer-handling and communication skills Knowledge of bodyshop tools, materials, and repair techniques Ability to manage targets, costs, and timelines Computer literacy (DMS, estimation software, MS Office) Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)Bodyshop productivity and efficiency Customer satisfaction scores Insurance claim turnaround time Quality and rework percentage Revenue and cost control
