The Role
The Candidate will function as the right hand to the Founding Partner. This is a unique leadership position that combines operational mastery, legal acumen, business development prowess, and people management excellence. You will be the operational backbone of the firm while also playing a critical role in revenue generation and client relationship management.

Key Responsibilities
1. Internal Operations & Systems Management (40%)
- Oversee and optimize all internal operations including case management, resource allocation, workflow processes, and administrative functions
- Implement cutting-edge systems and technology solutions to enhance operational efficiency and productivity
- Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for operational excellence
- Ensure financial discipline, budgeting accuracy, and profitability tracking across practice areas
- Manage vendor relationships, infrastructure decisions, and operational investments
- Apply sufficient legal knowledge to evaluate work quality, identify potential issues, and ensure the firm is not exposed to unnecessary risks or inefficiencies
2. Team Leadership & Management (30%)
- Lead, mentor, and manage a diverse team of 15+ lawyers across multiple practice areas
- Supervise practice managers, administrative heads, and support staff
- Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement
- Handle talent management including recruitment, performance reviews, professional development, and succession planning
- Resolve interpersonal conflicts and maintain team cohesion
- Command respect through legal expertise while effectively managing personalities and workloads
3. Business Development & Client Relations (20%)
- Support partners in nurturing and expanding relationships with existing clients
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities independently and collaboratively
- Represent the firm at networking events, industry conferences, and client meetings
- Develop and execute business development strategies aligned with firm growth objectives
- Prepare proposals, pitch presentations, and thought leadership content
- Build the firm's brand presence and market reputation
4. Strategic Leadership (10%)
- Serve as a strategic advisor to the Founding Partner on firm-wide decisions
- Drive revenue growth initiatives and scaling strategies
- Identify market opportunities and competitive positioning
- Lead special projects and transformation initiatives as required
- Contribute to long-term planning and vision-setting for the firm
Required Qualifications
Essential
Qualified lawyer
with a valid law degree and bar enrollment - Minimum 8-12 years of experience in legal practice, with at least 3-5 years in a management or operational leadership role
- Demonstrated expertise in dispute resolution, litigation, or related practice areas
- Proven track record of managing teams, operations, or business units
- Strong understanding of law firm economics, profitability drivers, and operational metrics
- Exceptional people management skills with the ability to lead, influence, and inspire diverse legal professionals

and will be commensurate with experience and qualifications (to be discussed privately)
Location & Work Arrangement
Location
: Nariman Point, Mumbai (fully office-based)- This role requires regular in-person presence to effectively manage operations, lead the team, and engage with clients
