Job Description: Assistant Manager – Merchandiser

Location: Perungudi, Chennai
Salary Range: ₹70,000 – ₹80,000 per month (₹8.4 LPA – ₹9.6 LPA)
Experience Required: 10–15 Years

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager – Merchandising to oversee end-to-end merchandising operations, including product development, costing, sourcing, TNA management, production follow-up, and vendor coordination.
The ideal candidate must have strong technical knowledge of fabrics, trims, garment construction, washes, and production processes.This role requires strong leadership skills, the ability to manage multiple styles and seasons simultaneously, and a proven track record of ensuring timely, high-quality execution.

Skills Required

  • Strong communication and buyer-handling skills
  • Deep knowledge of fabrics, trims, washes & production flow
  • Expertise in TNA planning & execution
  • Strong costing, negotiation & price finalization skills
  • Vendor sourcing, evaluation & relationship management
  • Proficiency in Excel and ERP/Inventory management systems
  • Ability to lead, mentor, and guide junior merchandisers
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making capability
  • Experience coordinating with sampling, design, production, and QA teams
  • Ability to manage pressure, deadlines & multi-style execution

Key ResponsibilitiesProduct Development & Planning

  • Lead proto sampling, product development, and approvals
  • Prepare tech packs, BOMs, spec sheets, and costing sheets
  • Identify fabric/trim issues and propose solutions
  • Coordinate with design, sampling, and technical teams

Costing & Sourcing

  • Prepare accurate cost sheets and negotiate price & lead times
  • Finalize MRP/pricing with management
  • Source, evaluate, and develop new vendors for fabrics, trims & job-work

TNA & Production Execution

  • Create and monitor TNA for all styles
  • Ensure timely ordering and in-house status of fabrics & trims
  • Coordinate production planning and resolve delays or technical issues
  • Conduct weekly review meetings with vendors & internal teams

Vendor & Buyer Management

  • Manage daily communication with buyers/buying houses
  • Handle documentation, samples, approvals, and buyer comments
  • Support buyer audits, compliance checks, and requirement alignment
  • Build and maintain strong vendor and buyer relationships

Quality & Delivery

  • Ensure adherence to quality checkpoints throughout production
  • Monitor washes, prints, embroidery, and job-work accuracy
  • Achieve 100% on-time delivery of all styles
  • Maintain updated production reports, trackers & approval documents

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: ₹70,000.00 - ₹80,000.00 per month
