The Assistant Manager-HR (Payroll & Compliance) will be responsible for managing end-to-end payroll processes, statutory compliance, and HR-related vendor management for the university. The role ensures timely and accurate vendor payments, statutory submissions, and compliance with all applicable regulations. The position demands a high level of accuracy, attention to detail, and coordination with internal departments, auditors, and external agencies to ensure seamless HR operations.
•Manage and process monthly payroll for all employee categories in coordination with Finance.
•Ensure accurate payroll inputs including attendance, leave, overtime, deductions, benefits, increments, arrears, and full & final settlements.
•Maintain and update real-time employee attendance data; ensure timely monthly closure and conduct periodic audits of attendance, leave balances, and shift records.
•Maintain confidentiality and integrity of all payroll and attendance data.
•Ensure adherence to all labour laws and HR statutory requirements (Shops & Establishments Act, Payment of Wages Act, Minimum Wages Act, EPF, ESIC, Gratuity, Professional Tax, Income Tax, and upcoming Labour Codes).
•Act as the nodal point with statutory bodies, labour departments and external consultants; ensure timely resolution of compliance-related queries.
•Maintain complete employee records, statutory registers, and audit-ready documentation.
•Prepare, maintain and update HR MIS including employee database, headcount, joiners, exits, attendance trends, leave data, and any other people metrics.
•Stay updated on amendments to labour and employment laws impacting the university.
•Manage end-to-end contracts for all categories of people engagements—employees, apprentices, interns, vendors providing manpower, visiting faculty, consultants, and any other HR contract type.
•Ensure timely issuance, renewal, closure and record-keeping of employment letters, contract agreements, apprentice registrations, and intern documentation.
•Ensure compliance with the Apprentices Act, Internship guidelines, and contractual obligations.
•Manage third-party vendors for payroll, recruitment and HR services i.e. monitor service levels, process invoices, oversee contract renewals, and coordinate with Finance for timely payments.
Any Graduate or MBA in Human Resources.
7+ years of experience in payroll and HR compliance, preferably within an educational institution, university, or large service organization.
Proficiency in MS Excel, HR analytics tools, and HRIS systems.
Analytical and data-oriented mindset for HR insights and reporting.
Strong understanding of Indian labour laws and statutory compliance.
Process-driven with a structured approach to documentation and follow-through.
