Work Timings: 10:00 AM – 7:00 PM IST (General)

Total Experience: 3 to 6 years
Relevant Experience Required: 1 to 2 years

Domain: pharmaceutical / medical sales
Notice Period: Immediate joiners preferred

Probation Period: 3 to 6 months, performance-based

Location: Mumbai / Ahmedabad perferred

Role Overview

The Area Sales Manager (ASM) is a critical leadership role responsible for translating business strategy into on-ground execution within the assigned territory. The role focuses on driving sustainable revenue growth, building high-performing field teams, and strengthening customer relationships, while ensuring ethical, compliant, and process-driven operations. The ASM acts as a key link between the field force and regional leadership, enabling consistency, visibility, and long-term performance.

Key Responsibilities

Sales & Market Growth

  • Drive consistent achievement of area sales targets in alignment with agreed business plans.
  • Execute sales and marketing strategies with a clear focus on market relevance and customer needs.
  • Track market trends, competitor movements, and evolving prescribing behavior to fine-tune territory strategy.
  • Identify growth opportunities, key accounts, and potential expansion areas within the territory.

Team Leadership & Capability Building

  • Recruit, onboard, and develop Medical Representatives with an emphasis on role, culture, and territory fit.
  • Conduct regular field coaching, joint calls, and structured performance reviews to improve field effectiveness.
  • Set clear monthly and quarterly objectives and track individual and team performance.
  • Enable continuous learning through product knowledge, selling skills, and behavioral coaching.

Customer & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Build and nurture long-term relationships with HCP, hospitals, and pharmacies based on trust and value creation.
  • Developing rapport with Purchasing Manager, Product Manager, Admin, Marketing Head (and find out their peers in other divisions or friends in other companies - sniffing/getting pulse)
  • Ensure effective product positioning, consistent messaging, and strong brand visibility in the market.
  • Manage key opinion leaders (KOLs) and priority accounts through strategic engagement plans.

Planning, Reporting & Governance

  • Develop and execute structured tour plans, sales forecasts, and territory action plans.
  • Review sales performance data and share timely, insight-driven reports with the Regional Sales Manager.
  • Ensure adherence to internal processes, reporting standards, and regulatory requirements.

Compliance & Ethical Practices

  • Uphold ethical promotion standards and comply with applicable pharmaceutical regulations.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and ensure transparency across all field activities.

Educational Qualification

  • Bachelor's degree in science, Pharmacy, or a related discipline
  • MBA in Sales / Marketing – preferred, but not mandatory

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: ₹600,000.00 - ₹800,000.00 per year

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Mumbai, Maharashtra: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)
