Android Developer

About the Role

an experienced Android Engineer to join our Pratilipi Literature team

You will be responsible for building features, ensuring app stability at scale, and collaborating with product, design, and growth teams to deliver seamless, engaging experiences that drive both user delight and monetisation. This is a high-impact role where your work will directly touch the lives of our community every single day.

Responsibilities

• Build & Scale Features: Design, develop, and ship features in Kotlin that improve user experience, engagement, and monetisation.
• App Quality & Stability: Monitor crashes, ANRs, and performance metrics; proactively debug and optimize for reliability at scale.
• Architecture & Maintainability: Refactor or rewrite legacy components into modern, modular architectures (MVVM, MVI, Clean Architecture).
• Experimentation & Growth: Partner with product and design to roll out rapid experiments (onboarding, discovery, monetisation), validate hypotheses, and iterate quickly.
• Performance Optimisation: Ensure smooth performance for large data sets, offline reading and writing.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, designers, and backend teams to deliver seamless end-to-end experiences.
• Innovation: Continuously evaluate new Android libraries, tools, and best practices to keep the app modern and efficient.

Requirements

• 1-3 years

  of Android development experience.

• Strong command of Kotlin, Coroutines, and Flows.

• Hands-on expertise with Android Jetpack components (Compose, Room, Navigation, ViewModel, etc.).
• Dependency injection with Dagger/Hilt.
• Proficiency in REST/JSON APIs and data persistence (Room/SQLite).
• Strong grounding in architecture patterns (MVVM, MVI).
• Experience with publishing and maintaining apps on Google Play.
• Comfortable with Git and CI/CD pipelines.

Bonus / Nice-to-Have

• Experience working on high-scale consumer apps (1M+ MAU).
• Worked on reader-centric or content-heavy apps (offline caching, pagination, media playback).
• Audio playback experience (media players, background services).
• Familiarity with analytics SDKs (Firebase, Amplitude, CleverTap).
• Knowledge of A/B testing frameworks and feature flags.
• Understanding of clean architecture and modularisation.
• AWS basics for integrating with backend/cloud services.
• Strong design intuition and empathy for users in emerging markets.
