Job Description

As the Vice President of Business Development, you will play a crucial role in leading and growing the sales and business development functions for a company operating in the dolomite and steel industry. The company is currently engaged in large-scale dolomite mining and expanding its operations in Africa, making your responsibilities in establishing and executing sales strategies, expanding market share, and nurturing relationships with key customers within the steel industry pivotal. Your key responsibilities will include developing and implementing comprehensive sales strategies to drive revenue growth for dolomite and other products supplied to the steel industry. You will collaborate with senior leadership to set both long-term and short-term sales goals, while also leading and mentoring the sales and business development team to ensure alignment with company objectives. Identifying new business opportunities in domestic and international markets, particularly focusing on dolomite as a key raw material for steel production, will be a crucial aspect of your role. Building and maintaining strong relationships with major players in the steel industry, analyzing market trends, and positioning the company for growth in the steel industry will also be part of your responsibilities. Leveraging your previous experience in the steel industry, especially in procurement, you will understand the needs of key customers and tailor solutions accordingly. Establishing long-term partnerships with key accounts, ensuring customer satisfaction, and collaborating closely with the operations team to ensure seamless delivery and high-quality service for customers will be essential for success in this role. You will lead contract negotiations with customers, utilizing market intelligence and industry knowledge to optimize pricing strategies and maximize profitability. It will be important to ensure that all commercial agreements are aligned with the company's financial and operational objectives. Collaborating closely with product development, supply chain, and logistics teams to ensure alignment of sales goals with production capabilities will be necessary. Working with marketing to develop targeted campaigns and communication strategies, providing input on product development based on customer feedback, and market demands will also be part of your responsibilities. Leading, motivating, and developing a high-performing sales and business development team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and excellence, and ensuring the team is equipped with the necessary tools, training, and resources to succeed will be key aspects of your leadership role. You will be responsible for monitoring key sales metrics, preparing regular reports for senior leadership, and adjusting strategies as needed to meet targets. Using data-driven insights to refine sales tactics, improve customer engagement, and drive operational efficiencies will be crucial for driving the business forward. To be successful in this role, you should have at least 10 years of experience in sales, business development, or purchasing within the steel or related heavy industries. Direct experience in purchasing or procurement within the steel industry, an understanding of supply chain dynamics, vendor management, and raw material sourcing, as well as knowledge of sea freight operations related to the transportation of bulk and break bulk materials, including dolomite, will be important qualifications. A deep understanding of the steel manufacturing process, including the role of dolomite in steel production, a proven track record of leading sales teams and driving revenue growth, strong negotiation and contract management abilities, excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and a bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business, or a related field are also key qualifications for this role. An MBA or other relevant advanced degrees are preferred.,
