The Valve Hydro Testing Technician is responsible for performing hydrostatic and pneumatic (GAS) pressure tests on Ball valves to ensure they meet specified pressure ratings, design standards, and customer requirements. This role involves setting up test equipment, conducting tests, analyzing results, identifying defects, and meticulously documenting all testing activities in accordance with internal procedures and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: • Test Setup and Execution: o Set up and operate hydrostatic and pneumatic testing equipment for Ball Valves o Connect valves to high-pressure air or water lines, ensuring proper sealing and safety precautions are in place. o Activate test pumps or compressors to reach specified internal pressures. o Monitor pressure gauges and test equipment for leaks, pressure drops, or other anomalies. o Apply leak detection solutions (e.g., soap solution) to valve surfaces to identify air leaks. o Perform various types of tests, including shell tests, seat leakage tests, and operational performance tests. • Inspection and Troubleshooting: o Visually inspect valves before, during, and after testing for defects, damage, or signs of wear. o Identify the source of leaks or pressure losses and mark defective areas for subsequent repair. o Troubleshoot testing equipment malfunctions and perform minor maintenance or calibration as required. • Documentation and Reporting: o Accurately record all test results, observations, and findings in designated forms or digital systems. o Prepare detailed test reports, certificates, and other required documentation for internal records and customer submission. o Maintain organized records of valve specifications, test procedures, and historical test data. • Quality and Compliance: o Ensure all testing activities comply with relevant industry standards (e.g., API, ASME, ANSI), company quality procedures, and safety regulations. o Adhere to strict quality control protocols to ensure the integrity and reliability of tested valves. o Participate in internal and external audits related to quality and testing processes. • Maintenance and Housekeeping: o Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the testing area. o Perform routine checks and preventative maintenance on testing equipment to ensure optimal performance and longevity. o Report any equipment malfunctions or safety hazards to the supervisor immediately. • Collaboration: o Collaborate effectively with production, quality assurance, engineering, and repair teams to address non-conformances and improve processes. o Communicate test results and potential issues clearly and concisely to relevant stakeholders. Qualifications: • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required. A technical certification or vocational training in mechanical, industrial maintenance, or a related field is highly preferred. • Experience: o 5-6 years of hands-on experience in valve testing, pressure testing, or mechanical assembly/repair in a manufacturing or industrial environment. o Familiarity with various valve types and their functions. • Technical Skills: o Proficiency in operating hydrostatic and pneumatic test benches and related instrumentation (pressure gauges, flow meters, etc.). o Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, schematics, and test specifications. o Strong mechanical aptitude and problem-solving skills. o Basic computer literacy for data entry and report generation. • Soft Skills: o Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. o Strong commitment to safety procedures and protocols. o Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a team. o Good communication skills (written and verbal). o Reliability and punctuality. • Physical Requirements: o Ability to stand, walk, lift (up to 50 lbs), bend, and perform repetitive motions for extended periods. o Comfortable working in a manufacturing or workshop environment, which may include exposure to noise, varying temperatures, and industrial equipment. Preferred Qualifications (Nice to Have): • Experience with specific valve industry standards (e.g., API 6A, API 6D, API 598). • Prior experience with ERP/MES systems for tracking production and quality data.
