15 years full time educationSummary: Experienced IBM Spectrum backup specialist focused on cybersecurity for enterprise storage and backup environments. Responsible for designing, implementing, securing, and operating IBM Spectrum solutions (Spectrum Scale, Spectrum Protect, Spectrum Virtualize, Spectrum Protect Plus) with strong emphasis on data protection, access control, threat detection and compliance across on-premises, hybrid, and cloud-integrated backup infrastructures. Roles & Responsibilities: - Design secure IBM Spectrum backup architectures aligned to security policies, regulatory requirements, and business continuity objectives. - Deploy and harden Spectrum solutions following security best practices: encryption at rest and in transit, key management integration, secure APIs, and secure service configurations - Integrate Spectrum platforms with enterprise IAM, LDAP/AD, RBAC models and enforce least-privilege access for storage management and data consumers. - Implement secure backup and restore workflows using Spectrum Protect and Spectrum Protect Plus; validate restore procedures, immutability, and ransomware resilience. - Implement logging, monitoring and alerting for Spectrum components; collaborate with SOC to detect storage-layer anomalies and participate in IR and forensics for storage-related incidents. - Maintain lifecycle of Spectrum components, evaluate security advisories, plan and apply patches, and remediate configuration vulnerabilities - Encryption and Key Management - Configure and manage enterprise key management solutions (KMIP, HSM integration) and ensure key rotation, escrow, and auditability. - Data Governance and Compliance - Support data classification, retention policies, encryption compliance (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS), and provide audit evidence for regulators and internal audit. - Automation and Infrastructure as Code - Deliver automation for secure provisioning, configuration drift prevention, and repeatable deployments using Terraform, Ansible, scripts, or Spectrum APIs. - Performance and Capacity Management - Balance security controls with performance and capacity requirements; perform security-aware capacity planning and cost optimization. - Stakeholder Collaboration and Documentation - Work with engineering, security, DevOps, and business teams to translate security requirements into storage designs; produce runbooks, security baselines, and architecture diagrams. Professional & Technical Skills: - Education: Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Security, Engineering, or equivalent experience. - Experience: 8+ years of enterprise storage experience with at least 3 years working hands-on with IBM Spectrum family products. - Security Experience: 3+ years focused on cybersecurity for infrastructure or storage systems, including encryption, IAM, vulnerability management, and incident response. - Technical Skills: Strong Linux/Unix administration, networking fundamentals, SAN/NAS concepts, RAID, and storage performance tuning. - IBM Certifications: IBM Certified Specialist or Professional for Spectrum Scale, Spectrum Protect, or Spectrum Virtualize preferred. - Security Certifications: CISSP, CISM, GIAC Storage or Cloud Security certifications; or equivalent. - Cloud Knowledge: Experience integrating Spectrum solutions with public cloud storage or hybrid cloud models (AWS, Azure, GCP). - Scripting and Automation: Python, Bash, PowerShell, Ansible, Terraform. - Monitoring and SIEM: Experience with SIEMs (Splunk, QRadar, Azure Sentinel), Prometheus, Grafana, and centralized logging. - Key Management: KMIP, HSM, Vault (HashiCorp) or cloud KMS integrations. - Communication: Able to explain complex security and storage concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders. - Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills and methodical incident investigation capability. - Collaboration: Experience working in cross-functional teams and influencing without direct authority. - Documentation: Produce clear runbooks, security baselines, and audit-ready documentation. - Security Posture: Reduction in critical storage vulnerabilities and configuration drift. - Ransomware Readiness: Recovery Time Objective and Recovery Point Objective targets validated in DR tests. - Compliance: Audit findings closed within SLA; number of audit exceptions. - Operational Efficiency: Time to provision secure storage environment; automation coverage percentage. - Incident Response: Mean Time to Detect and Mean Time to Remediate storage security incidents.
