Technical Support Engineer

About Position:

We are seeking an experienced Technical Support Lead to oversee and enhance the performance of our Linux/Unix-based systems. This role involves managing a team of technical support engineers, ensuring the seamless operation of our infrastructure, and providing expert-level support for complex technical issues.

What You'll Do:

• Provide support for IBM Netezza environments, focusing on the Linux and Networking layers.
• Perform system administration tasks such as patching, kernel tuning, disk management, service monitoring, and resource optimization.
• Manage and troubleshoot network configurations – including VLANs, NIC bonding, SSL certificates, firewall rules, and DNS/host entries.
• Collaborate with hardware teams to support critical component replacements (CPU, memory, planar board, NICs, etc.) with appropriate downtime planning.
• Coordinate with database, application for incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and change implementation.
• Ensure system health, availability, and compliance across multiple customer environments, maintaining high uptime and performance standards.
• Document all operational procedures, configuration changes, incident logs, and environment-specific runbooks.
• Participate in on-call rotations, shift handovers, and escalation bridges with customers across global time zones.
• Contribute to continuous improvement of monitoring, alerting mechanisms, and system recovery procedures.
• Must have working experience or strong understanding of SQL, and hands-on exposure to at least one relational database platform such as MS SQL, Oracle, or Db2.

Expertise You'll Bring:

• Must-Have: Strong experience in Linux/Unix Administration and Networking is mandatory, along with flexibility to work in a 24x7 rotational shift environment, including weekends.
• Good to Have: RHCE (version 7 or 8) certification, Linux scripting skills, and prior experience working with database platforms.
• 2–5 years of hands-on experience in enterprise Linux/Unix system administration and core networking.
• Prior exposure to cloud-hosted database appliances or hybrid/on-prem Netezza environments is a strong plus.
• Experience in supporting global customers, especially in US and European regions.
• Solid understanding of data center operations, with the ability to manage infrastructure changes and emergency troubleshooting remotely.
• Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and effectively prioritize issues in a 24x7 mission-critical environment.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across teams and time zones.
• Linux/Unix Administration (RHEL 7 & 8)
• Networking (VLANs, bonding, host file configuration, NICs, SSL, etc.)
• Containerization experience (Docker and/or Kubernetes)
